OCEAN CITY, Md. - Nearly 1,900 transportation-related jobs as part of a $160 million investment to improve safety and relieve congestion in the region, Gov. Martin O’Malley announced Friday.
According to a state news release, these projects were made possible by the Transportation Act of 2013 and include investing $50 million to begin construction next year on a new high-level, fixed-span bridge to replace the Dover Bridge.
"Maryland is delivering for the Eastern Shore. By investing in these projects, we improve safety, relieve congestion, and make Maryland an even more attractive place for companies to invest," said O'Malley in a statement. "Together, with the support of our local partners, we made the better choices to invest in the future of Maryland's transportation network, allowing us to create more than 57,200 jobs for our hardworking families and rebuild our state's infrastructure."

1,900 temporary jobs. Where will they go when construction is done? This guy sure loves to toot his own horn.
57,000 jobs to out of State contractors. Lets see how many Eastern Shore companies are involved in the Dover Bridge.
McCrone and Bramble will get the contracts on that bridge, watch and see.
Jobs? Not here in Salisbury!
Whatever company Omalleys in laws own will get the bid.
Nothing more but a hot air coming from a liberal democrat.
And this is why gas prices were raised???
When I moved here Willie Don was king, and replacing that bridge and dualizing Rt 113 were big needs on the Shore. Flash forward and some of 113 has been improved and Dover Bridge is unchanged.
Unless he's gonna use unemployed and underemployed shoremen as human planks on the road surface there's no way 1900 folks get jobs.
He sings the same tired Mantra that Ireton sings about JOBS! Nothing but hot air and some drooling Democrats believe it. This grant money and contracts always go out of state. BFD O'Malley!
