Man Dies After Being Taken Into Custody In Phoenix

PHOENIX - A Valley man died shortly after a run-in with police. Now his dad, a former detective, wants answers.

Witnesses caught video of the whole incident. Police were trying to help Michael Angel Ruiz off the roof at his apartment complex near 23rd Avenue and Indian School Road -- and that's when witnesses say it goes downhill.

Video shows the 44-year-old man jumping from the roof and Phoenix police surrounding him. It looks like they put him in a choke hold and begin to drag him down the stairs.

Well lets see what the coroner said he died from before everybody gets worked up about this one. Te part of the video "clip" that is shown shows the officer holding the choke hold which is perfectly legitimate training and them carrying him step by step. His head was out on each of the three steps you see in the clip. Based on the title I was expecting to see officers dragging this guy down by his ankles while handcuffed.

Sara Goldenberg is HOT and I noticed the temperature there was 109 degrees.

I agree with 10:46 AM. The witnesses I saw weren't legitimate in my opinion. Of course the retired LAPD detective is going to offer his opinion because it was his son. Did he even go to Phoenix to be with his son?

A lot of people are "good people" that are on drugs. When people hit their bottom, that same "good person" turns violent. We saw a man, not listening to police. Endangering his life on top of the room. He jumps. Police do their job. Restraining the man, because no one knows the intentions of "good person on drugs". They didn't drag him as stated. They picked him up with what they could and slowly carried him. Here is the answer,,STOP doing drugs!

yeah if it was your son this would all be perfectly acceptable huh?
Bottom line is every day in this country you see this story play out again and again. always with the same results, person ends up dead cops get to go home! I say when the cops show up be ready and be armed to the hilt make sure some of them don't get to go home cause they sure as hell aint gonna give you that courtesy! maybe then just maybe they'll realize they started a freaking war and they can and will lose!

Is that your standard answer? First we had the race card, now we have the cop card. Like pointing out the illegal activities of government makes one a traitor, pointing out the illegal activities of police makes one a cop killer?

I will tell you this, cops that do this crap and cops, and others, who applaud this crap, yes, those I hate. As do and should every other freedom loving American.

Wearing a badge nowadays does not make one above suspicion, or accountability. In fact, it makes them suspect nowadays.

And it's not because of any predisposition to dislike or hate cops, it all stems from REPEATED actions of said police. Sorry, no free pass here.

Even IF this guy, or any of the other VICTIMS OF POLICE, were doing something wrong, that does not allow the police to break the law, deny anyone their rights or any other illegal action.

The job of police is to investigate, keep the peace, make arrests if warranted, and fill out reports.

Killing people in NOT the preferred method of keeping the peace. I don't care how many people are on drugs, on roofs, or on a damn telephone pole.

There is a thing called Due Process in this country. For how much longer is anyone's guess. But right now we still have it.

Learn to respect it. Learn what it means. And for God's sake, learn that you cannot violate it or any other law or your own policy, which these knuckleheads did.

If not, I predict you will soon be getting a taste of your own medicine. And rightly so.

That man was dead going down the stairs. Pathetic display of "Law Enforcement".

Good God.
