Ross says the tenant who had been renting his house installed those dishes four years ago without his permission. She recently moved out and Ross and his wife moved in. But when they saw the dishes and called DirecTV to have them removed, they were told: “You own those. They’re your property now.”
Ross refused, urging them to show him any kind of written document with his signature stating that they belong to him. But DirecTV said that while it prefers written permission from the property owner to install a satellite dish, it also accepts verbal permission from the renter.

We had a problem with Direct TV a few years ago and we sent a letter to the Better Business Bureau. The BBB sent a letter directly to the President of Direct TV and we were quickly issued a check in the amount that was owed to us.
So why is it DirecTV's fault of bolt holes in roof when it was his tenant that ordered it. DIRECTV is not going around putting dishes on people's roofs because they like everybody. Don't want holes in your roof don't rent the house out.
I think the renter should be liable for the damage. They ordered the service. If you knock a hole in a wall you are held accountable for that. Take it out of the security deposit.
Simply put the tenant does not get their security deposit back. If that has already happened, you could see if there is legally a way to place a lien on the person. I don't know if the cost could make it worth it though.
We have recently stopped Directv at our house. The dish is still in our yard. We were told we owned it so it still sits on the concrete slab. Thankfully the dish is not attached to the house.
If you don't like DIRECTV call a cable co.
Why would anyone want satellite TV I have seen people have it and on windy, extremely warm days(102F), rainy, snowy, and during a thunderstorm the dish never works. The prices are cheap but it probably is cheap since it doesn't work half the time.
We have Dish TV---Priced at about $60 per month---they might start out cheap---but just give them a yr or so to catch up to Comcast.
