The annual Purnell Thomas Memorial Tennis Tournament, which features some of the top ranked pros from around the world, announces the addition of the first Mens Singles Amateur Tennis Tournament for top amateur talent from Maryland and surrounding states. This event will be played at Salisbury University beginning Monday - 5PM, August 12, 2013.
The amateur finals will be Saturday - August 17, 2013 following an exhibition with local television celebrities and the top junior players on the Eastern Shore. The Amateur Winner and Runner-up each will receive a free trip to Hawaii to participate in the Annual Mercedes Benz Amateur Championships.
The winners in the Mercedes event in Hawaii will receive an all expense paid trip to the US Open.
The finals of the professional tournament, for a share of a thirty thousand dollar purse, will be held immediately after on Saturday, August 17, 2013.
The Purnell Thomas Memorial Tennis Tournament has proudly raised over a hundred seventy five thousand dollars for Costal Hospice.
