State Rep. Monique Davis (D-Chicago) is making the request.
“I am requesting with this press conference that Gov. Patrick Quinn order the Illinois National Guard (and) the Illinois State Police (to) come to Chicago and work with our mayor Ron (sic) Emanuel to provide safety for the children, especially,” she said at a news conference in Springfield.
Over the holiday weekend, 74 people were shot and 12 killed in Chicago, and Davis says the police don’t have the manpower to make arrests.

Why doesn't she sponsor a bill to pass CCW and see how quick the shootings stop.
The rules of engagement are the big problem. When the Nat Guard went to assist at the US - Mexico border they were not even armed. If they do go to Chicago in force, how dare anyone make such a request and then give them strict guidelines.Arm them and give them orders to shoot to kill at their discretion.
Need to send in some of the cops who are using Hitler's "blitz" on citizens who are minding their own business.
Let the people excercise their rights to protect themselves, and their loved ones, and a lot of the gun violence will go away. Oh yeah, that's right-Chicago is a gun-free zone. The liberal elites know what is best for us.
How many were gang members?
And this is exactly what you get when you disarm law abiding citizens....
Chicago, Illinois with some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation!! Now they want the military to come in and protect them from the escalating shootings?
They created it, they need to deal with it! As a law abiding citizen I know that concealed carry is not a license to kill but a license to keep FROM being killed by a criminal element!!
Keep taking the right to properly defend ourselves and our loved ones away here in Maryland and "Chicago" will be our future to deal with.
Exactly 11:50! They created it by electing democrats who have been failing them for generations. If these people had an ounce of sense they would have sent the democrats packing many many years ago when the problems of poverty and crime started surfacing.
Chicago made its bed, it can lay in it.
MD will be seeing much of the same shortly after October 1st. Welcome to chaos.
