WCSO Press Release 7-12-13

Incident: Motor Vehicle Crash 
Suspect: Juvenile
Location: Waller Rd. and Hickory Mill Rd.
Date of Incident: July 4, 2013
Narrative: On July 4, 2013 at approx. 6:20 p.m. a Wicomico County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to the area of Waller Rd and Hickory Mill Rd, Salisbury, Wicomico County, MD in reference to a motor vehicle crash.  Upon arrival, the deputy found a Blue in color Jeep against an electric pole.  The vehicle and the pole were both damaged from the collision.  The investigation revealed the vehicle was stolen and a 17 year old juvenile was charged in the incident.

Incident: Driving Under the Influence 
Suspect(s): Tyrone Michael Horsey 
Location: Brick Kiln Rd. and Owens Branch Rd.
Narrative: On July 6, 2013 at approximately 3:00 a.m. a Wicomico County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a vehicle stopped in the travel portion of the roadway in the area of Brick Kiln Road and Owens Branch Road. The deputy observed a White/Blue pick-up truck stopped at the intersection with the driver hunched over the steering wheel. The deputy observed the vehicle was running and still in drive with the driver passed out behind the wheel. The deputy observed an open bottle of Vodka in the passenger compartment of the vehicle.  The deputy could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the vehicle and the driver.
The driver was given Field Sobriety Tests which he was unable to perform successfully. The driver agreed to voluntarily submit to an alcohol breathalyzer test and the results showed he was over the legal limit. Horsey also had an active warrant through Worcester County and was transferred to their custody.
Charges: Driving while under the influence of Alcohol, Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, Driving While Impaired, Driving on Suspended License and Privilege, Driving on Revoked License and Privilege, Fail to Display License to uniformed police on demand and causing standing vehicle to obstruct free passage of roadway


Incident: Driving Under the Influence
Suspect(s): Carrie Anne Schleupner
Location:. Beaglin Park Dr. and Schumaker Dr.
Narrative: On July 7, 2013 at approximately 1:30 a.m. a Wicomico County Sheriff’s Deputy observed a Silver Mercury operating erratically and speeding on Beaglin Park Drive near Schumaker Drive.  The Deputy stopped the vehicle and made contact with the driver who had a moderate odor of an alcoholic beverage emitting from the vehicle and her breath. The driver was given Field Sobriety Tests which she was unable to perform successfully. The driver agreed to voluntarily submit to an alcohol breathalyzer test and the results showed she was over the legal limit.
Charges: Driving while under the influence of Alcohol, Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, Driving While Impaired, Driving on Suspended License and Privilege, Driving on Revoked License and Privilege, Exceeding maximum posted speed limit, Failure to Display tabs on vehicle as required by MVA and Failure of Individual driving on highway to have license


Incident: Driving Under the Influence and CDS Possession
Suspect(s): Ronald James Lovett and Dustin Richard Smack
Location:. Adkins Rd. and Jersey Rd.
Narrative: On July 3, 2013 at approximately 9:55 a.m. a Wicomico County Sheriff’s Deputy responded to a trespassing complaint in the area of Adkins Road and Jersey Road. The deputy made contact with 2 people who were seated inside a Red pick-up truck on an access road. The deputy spoke with the driver and immediately smelled an odor of burnt marijuana. The deputy also observed a 24 ounce open container of Natural Ice beer in the vehicle. The deputy went around the truck and made contact with the passenger. When the passenger stepped out, the deputy observed a metal smoking device under the left leg of the passenger that contained partially burnt suspected marijuana.  The driver was given Field Sobriety Tests which he was unable to perform successfully. The driver agreed to voluntarily submit to an alcohol breathalyzer test where he was found to be over the legal limit. Both were issue criminal citations for possession of marijuana and the driver was charged with D.U.I.

Incident: Theft
Date of Incident: 29 June 2013
Location: Athol Road Mardela Springs, MD
Suspect: Wayne B. Walls, 39, Hurlock, MD
                Marsha M. Walls, 40, Hurlock, MD
Narrative: On 29 June 2013 a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported Theft.  The victim reported that several items of produce were stolen from her produce stand.   The victim has video surveillance of the produce stand and through viewing the video footage of the incident as well as further investigation, the suspects were identified as Wayne Walls and Marsha Walls.    Both Wayne and Marsha Walls were issued criminal citations charging them with Theft.

Incident: Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol
Date of Incident: 8 July 2013
Location: Hobbs Road Salisbury, MD
Suspect:   Kari J. Rajala, 40, Eden, MD
Narrative: On 8 July 2013 at 12:17 PM, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of an intoxicated driver.  Upon making contact with the driver of the vehicle, Kari J. Rajala, the deputy detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage.   The deputy administered field sobriety testing to Rajala, who performed poorly, which led to his arrest.  Rajala agreed to take a breathalyzer test and the results showed that Rajala was over the legal limit. Rajala was issued citations and was released to a caretaker.

Incident: Possession of CDS
Date of Incident:  5 July 2013
Location: North Salisbury Blvd. Salisbury, MD
Suspect: Matthew T. Crenshaw, 21, Delmar, MD
                Arthur R. White II, 25, Baltimore, MD
Narrative: On 5 July 2013 at 3:40 PM, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an expired registration tag.  Further investigation revealed that the driver,  Matthew Crenshaw, and passenger, Arthur R. White II, were in possession of Marihuana and CDS paraphernalia.  These items were seized and the deputy placed Crenshaw and White under arrest.  Both Crenshaw and White were later released after they were issued criminal citations for possession of Marihuana and possession of CDS paraphernalia.

Incident: Possession of CDS
Date of Incident:  5 July 2013
Location: Olde Florist Lane Wicomico County, MD
Suspect: Anthony E. Gropelli, 22, Pittsburgh, PA
                Justin G. Sutton, 19, Carnegie, PA
Narrative: On 5 July 2013 at 9:50 a.m., a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for excessive speed.  Further investigation revealed that the driver, Anthony Gropelli, and passenger, Justin Sutton, were in possession of Marihuana and CDS paraphernalia.  These items were seized and the deputy placed Gropelli and Sutton under arrest.  Both were transported to Central Booking at the Wicomico County Detention Center.

Incident: Possession of CDS
Date of Incident:  5 July 2013
Location: RT. 50 Hebron Wicomico County MD
Suspect: Anthony Bennett Adams, 53 year old male of Easton MD
Narrative: On July 2, 2013, Wicomico County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to call of a subject, later Identified as Anthony Adams of Easton, MD, displaying a handgun in a threatening manner to a victim at the Royal Farms store in Hebron, MD. Deputies quickly located the suspect on the Rt. 50 Bypass in Salisbury and placed him in custody after locating a loaded 38 cal. revolver on his person.  Adams was subsequently charged with assault and weapons related violations prior to being released to WCDC.
Charges: Possession of Regulated Firearm after being convicted of a disqualifying crime, resist lawful arrest, wear and carry a dangerous weapon, concealed on his person, transport wear and carry a handgun and was intoxicated and did endanger the safety of sheriff’s deputies and others
