A meteorologist in Oklahoma is facing serious criticism that he’s to blame for the deaths of five people in last month’s tornado. A woman named Virginia Shrum said she and her family were watching coverage on KFOR, an NBC affiliate, while discussing whether to hide in the house or leave.
That’s when they say meteorologist Mike Morgan settled the debate when he said the following on air: “It’s heading right down Interstate 40. You cannot be above ground in Yukon. You got to go south and you need to go now. And you need to be below ground – interior bathroom or closet’s not going to do it.”
The group of 11 family and friends ran to the drainage tunnel. The tornado missed them, but flash flooding swept all of them into the Oklahoma River. Four of the five who died were children. One child’s body still has not been recovered.

meteorologist didn't say to craw into a water drainage pipe.
The Weather people lie all the time and need to be held accountable for what they say...same with the Obama media clowns...
Even using the worlds fastest and most powerful computers, we still can't predict the weather. But if tornadoes frequent your area and you have to be TOLD where to take shelter, YOU need to stop blaming OTHER people and 'fess up --- you are too stupid be be having or raising children. The weather guy was trying to give some urgency to his warning. Did they expect SPECIFIC instructions on what to do? Apparently so....
@2:02 Most useless comment of the year goes to you.
The weatherman did nothing wrong, I can understand the grief but sometimes people need to be responsible for their own actions and not just point fingers.
Larry, stop trying to use common sense here. You should know better.
DJ :P
So, was their house destroyed? Had they stayed there, would all 11 be dead? There's no straws to grab at here, folks. The guy was trying to help folks understand the danger coming.
They are to blame, and I trust I will see them on the Darwin Awards website.
Not trying to poke fun, as there were lives lost... but, since they have this ridiculous story calling out a meteorologist... they deserve the jokes and scrutiny.
I see ya DJ. Don't try to lay no big rap up on me, man.
See ya at the field. And try to hold it down some --- you're scaring the kids....lol!
