A Message From Change Maryland
"Maryland, which boasted 12 Fortune 500 companies when O'Malley took office, is now down to just two, and the state has lost more than 6,500 small businesses. High taxes have had a 'crushing impact' on individual taxpayers, forcing more than 31,000 to move out of state, further reducing the revenue the 40 tax hikes were designed to increase. 'It's a snowball rolling down the mountain,' Hogan said. 'Every single economic indicator shows that Maryland is worse off since O'Malley took office.'"
'Change Maryland Chairman Larry Hogan pointed out that monthly job figures tend to be volatile. But when O'Malley took office in 2007, unemployment in Maryland was 3.6 percent. It's now 6.5 percent — compared to the 5.2 percent of its top competitor, Virginia, which added more than 12,000 jobs last month. 'Virginia has beaten the pants off Maryland as far as job creation is concerned,' Hogan told The Washington Examiner.'

Don't forget, O'Malley has had the support of Conway, Cane, and Mathias all the way.
But look at the good news. We may have lost 1,000's of jobs but gained 1,000's of people who moved here to get on our fantastic welfare system. What a deal!!
Conway screwed us with the teacher pension shift. And he was an educator so I did not see that one coming. I guess all is fair in Annapolis. Tax and Spend.
Here in Wicomico County - we have lost 3,942 less workers in the workforce from February 2012 until March 2013.

March 12 53073 - Dn.43 workers
April 12 52786 - Dn175 workers
May 12 53608 - Up164 workers
June 12 54256 - Up431 workers
July 12 54877 - Up738 workers
August 12 53372 - Dn.51 workers

Total 3942 Less
It looks as though Wicomico's workforce is getting smaller and smaller. This is not good as it shows that our economy is dismal.
I guess we are going to have to index the educational budget downward so as to exert economic sanctions on the root cause of a deteriorating workforce. The sooner the action is taken - the faster our area will start to recoup some of our lost industrial base.
You see - when the Maintenance of Effort legislation was implemented all of our industries started to exodus out of here. The relationship to our local area workforce diminishing is linear in relationship to our ever increasing educational budget.
Now - what politicians are going to step-up to the plate and try and rectify this imbalance.
Hey Joe - the 6:19 Post is the most logical post to-date. I tend to agree with the assertion that the educational budget has proved to be the demise of our local industry. Who would want to move into an area with such a draconian tax structure.
But the voters keep putting in people like Conway, Pollitt, Ireton, O'Malley, etc... until this area stands up for itself, how can we expect anything better to happen?
Responding to 6:19 PM Posting
We should call the newly proposed law - MAINTENANCE OF BUSINESS
Maybe it will gain traction similar to the BOE Maintenance of Effort.
Yeah, but presbo visits regularly.
he has a "D" beside his name, what did we expect?!?!?!?
