The jobless rate for Maryland inched down in April.
The federal Bureau of Labor Statistics reported that Maryland's unemployment rate fell to 6.5 percent.
That figure compares with the latest national rate of 7.5 percent and is a tenth lower than the March number for Maryland.
Even though the overall percentage dropped, the state actually saw a net loss of jobs in April of 6,200.

That's because the "unemployment rate" is based on who us still able to sign up for benefits, i.e. new job losses! You know, those who have been able to keep their jobs through this Depression, and finally the hammer fell. The rest of the job losses haven't been employed long enough to build back up time enough to collect benefits.
Of course, this all spells out the truth, that the possibility of getting a job and holding it is reduced by 6,200 per month.
Out illustrious governor, however, will trump up the figures to lie to us and spin this information to make it look like April was our best month ever.
Do NOT pay attention to the man behind the curtain!
We have several restaurants in need of help. I don't understand why people are on unemployment with these jobs available. I have worked two jobs to make ends meet.
Call or e-mail LORA if you are in need of a job and maybe we can steer you in a direction.
The contradiction of Government...
Which is it?
Did employment increase or decrease?
NET LOSS = fewer employed people.
To show a drop in unemployment is an outright LIE.
To "LORA", Thanks, but no thanks, My talent is Commercial Building Construction Super. Real close to restaurant server, but not that damn close. I've been "Unemployed" for 4.5 years, and no longer qualify for bennies, so for O'mallet's purposes, I don't count! Isn't that nice?
just because someone is no longer eligible to collect unemployment benefits, doesn't mean they landed a job. these people make it look like the jobless roll is lower. (they don't tell you that.)
