(Salisbury, MD.) Dr. Vincent Perrotta was recognized as the 2013 Outstanding Public Health Leader for Wicomico County at a ceremony held April 1, 2013 at Salisbury University. The award ceremony was held in recognition of National Public Health Week, April 1-7, 2013. Many of his family members and colleagues were present to observe the presentation of the award.
As president and founder of the non profit organization La Merced, Dr. Perrotta has completed medical missions to Nicaragua, for the treatment of congenital and acquired deformities of the face, trunk and extremities in children. He selflessly served on these missions in 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2013. By fostering a community of care and giving among our local health care providers and health care supply and equipment vendors, he takes the best of Wicomico County to others who are less fortunate. “Thanks to his philosophy of giving and sharing, Dr. Perrotta assures that the compassion of La Merced lasts year round and benefits all who live in Wicomico County,” said Lori Brewster, Health Officer for Wicomico County.
Dr. Vincent Perrotta is to be commended for his efforts to coordinate local resources to significantly improve the health of children in third world countries that cannot help themselves and for his accomplishment on being recognized as Wicomico County's 2013 Outstanding Public Health Leader.
