Waste Not, Want Not: Montana Measure Will Allow Residents To Eat Roadkill
Get the elk marinade ready and leave your judgments at the car door, everybody. The state of Montana is not a fan of waste, and is set to allow its residents to salvage roadkill for food. If citizens can scrape it, they can eat it. And we’re not talking your usual squirrels and possums, big-game like elk, deer, antelope and moose could all be a part of the roadkill menu.

If it's a fresh kill, why not? Could only be a broken neck or something like that that killed the animal.
Now if it's been laying there for a week or more all chewed up, I'm not sure that would be healthy. Maybe someone who knows could enlighten us.
I have first hand knowledge that this done all the time right here on the eastern shore
I personally have euthanized and field dressed, skinned and butchered a big Doe that was struck by a friend of mine. DNR in attendance on site.
I never knew it was illegal.
It was tasty.

Better to eat it than waste it, as long as it's healthy to do so.
I know some might find it gross but more than likely, they don't even know where their food comes from, unless they hunt and kill it themselves.
People gotta eat. Not any difference from any other kind of fresh (and the operative word is fresh) kill.
Cue the treehugers whoo will protest against this they will claim it deprives buzzards of their rights.
I go by the 3 fly rule, any more let it go, LET IT GO.
