Maryland Lawmakers Consider Decriminalizing Small Amounts of Marijuana

Just days after voting to abolish the death penalty, Maryland lawmakers took up another hot-button issue: decriminalizing small amounts of marijuana.

The State Senate is expected to vote Monday night on a bill that would do away with jail time for possession of small amounts of marijuana.

Bill co-sponsor Sent. Allan Kittleman, R, says the law would reduce the penalty for having 10 grams or less from 90 days in jail and a $500 fine to a $100 fine and no jail.

Good. Start putting REAL criminals, like politicians and murderers, in jail. Or build another twenty prisons. And start locking up all the politicians, cops, teachers, military officers, congressmen, judges, lawyers, doctors, architects, astronomers, and other people who go home EVERY NIGHT a hit a joint.

I have seen that the Maryland assembly are having hearings to out right legalize it like they did in Colorado and Washington state. Making Maryland the third state to legalize.

That's the realisic approach, if they legalize it as medical marijuana it won't be taxable. Legalize it, tax and regulate it and leave the gas tax alone.
