If it’s an absolutely zero skill job that just requires a body, why is the government mandating you pay them any set wage rate at all? Think like an employer. Consider a dishwasher. Why Raising The Minimum Wage Is A Terrible Idea
The biggest problem with Americans today, and the politicians that pander to them, is that they make choices based on emotional effect and not on data. This is why there’s no outrage over the budget-busting compensation of public sector employees like teachers, firefighters and police (yes, they all do important jobs, but the free market should dictate their salaries and compensation, not union thuggery and fleecing of the taxpayer), why nobody cares about all the stupid stimulus bills that had no impact other than to further increase our national debt (and hence, debt servicing costs), why people think price gouging is bad (gouging is GOOD) and of course, why Americans love a minimum wage. To add insult to injury, Obama used emotional platitudes to highlight why America needs to raise the minimum wage yet again. It is a terrible idea; here’s why:

Now that you raise minimum wage, what is a persons worth who is skilled working for say 10.00 an hour? Is that to say it's meaningless? To raise the minimum wage and not all wages across the board would make a person who has spent the time to get trained in a skill and who has been working with no raise insight feel useless. It must be across the board, but you know that employers who rule with a iron fist and threats won't raise wages across the board but just laugh that he has a skilled worker at a cheaper wage. Trust me, there are employers in Salisbury that think this way. Especially in the automotive business regarding Electrical! My brother struggles everyday to a employer who is just money hungry and takes advantage of his employees and can pay off local people to get his way! HUMMMM Just a real jerk with toys and money pulling the sheet over the heads of the community thinking he is just giving them a Deal.
Just my 2 cents.
The people that don't work wont see a difference. The people that are working and trying to make a living will see the most impact on this. Some people work and get some assistance...with their pay going up many will not qualify for any assistance. Again the ones that are trying will be punished while the ones doing nothing will see hardly any change. They will probably be the first ones to complain that the price of things are going up. Their food stamps will not go as far as they once did. Small businesses will not be able to hire as many people and many large ones will not either.
Raising minimum wage doesn't raise standards of living. It lowers them.
The ones paying that increased wage have to make a living, too.
Here is a fact that is rarely mentioned during the debated on razing the federal minimum wage.
That vast majority of both private sector and public sector union contracts wage rates are based on the federal minimum wage rate.
Federal minimum wage rate goes up, the wage paid to union employees also goes up.
