On 2/12/13 at approximately 8:30 p.m., an officer from the Delmar Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a black Hyunai Sonata for exceeding the posted speed limit on Rt. 13 in Delmar, Delaware. The officer observed the driver, Eric Kuntz, to be extremely nervous and moving about in the vehicle frantically. The officer utilized his k-9 Aron to conduct a scan of the vehicle which resulted in a positive alert for the odor or narcotics. A search of the vehicle was conducted which resulted in the recovery of an envelope containing suspected methamphetamine, a glass vial containing suspected heroin, and a hypodermic syringe. Field tests were conducted on both substances which yielded positive results for the presence of the aforementioned drugs.
Kuntz was charged with:
• possession of narcotics, schedule II
• Possession od CDS Paraphernalia
And transported to Sussex Correctional Institute
On 2/19/13 at approximately 8:13 p.m., Officers from the Delmar Police Department were investigating a single vehicle accident involving a tractor trailer that occurred in the northbound lanes of RL 13. north of Winter Blvd., Delmar Maryland. While investigating this accident a silver Honda Accord, which was traveling north on Rt. 13, collided with a tow truck which was in the process of removing the tractor trailer from the scene. The Honda Accord was occupied by a driver and two passengers, all of whom received injuries ranging from mild to life threatening requiring one occupant to be flown to shock trauma.
Alcohol is suspected to be a contributing factor and charges are pending in this case.
