Local governments should add mandatory 2 or 3 extra years before police officers can retire and put them on school duty for the added years. Some police officers are retiring in their early 40's. This could not only help with school safety but also with local gov't economic woes by increasing retirement years.

75 years worth of stress in a 25 year career. No thanks for the extra added years.

Oh come on 11:35! School shootings are rare to begin with then add to that the realization that the shooter would be facing of a trained armed police officer could just be a deterrent to begin with.
It would be a year or 2 extra of course but alot less stressful than previous years in police work. So many police officers go into private security after retirement anyway.

I am all for giving instruction, then arming school personnel. The school in Texas is definitely on the right track. Hey, it seems to be working in Texas and in Israel as well.
On a lighter note, this baby's expression is priceless!

So, we will make the whole class wait for the school officer to run the hall from wherever he was patrolling before the shooter encounters any crossfire? I think that's too long. It didn't work in Connecticut very well...
