Barry gives away thousands of dollars worth of turkeys every Thanksgiving. When the Washington City Paper asked Barry where the money for the giveaway comes from, he refused to answer, adding only a specific group is interested in knowing the source of the funds.
"...only 'liberal white folk'," Barry told the paper.

A couple of years ago a friend of mine who belongs to a civic organization participated in a turkey giveaway at a local public housing project. They hadn't finished one row of houses yet before the recipients were out trying to sell the turkeys to cars passing by! This organization said never again.

The people who are paying may indeed want to know the source of the funds. The people who always get things for free are the ones who don't care who's paying.

Marion Barry is a perverse thief who has a proven track record of being incompetent. When I was a teenager I was invited by on of his "aides" to meet the mayor of DC and party. He can say anything he wants because the cess pool that is Washington suits him fine.
Being white and a liberal. My only cocern is for the innocent turkeys being sent to such neighborhoods. I hope they were dead already.
