A natural gas explosion in one of New England's biggest cities on Friday leveled a strip club and heavily damaged a dozen other buildings but didn't kill anyone, authorities said.
Firefighters, police officers and gas company workers in the area because of an earlier gas leak and odor report were among the 18 people injured in the blast, authorities said.
"This is a miracle on Worthington Street that no one was killed," Lt. Gov. Tim Murray said at a press conference.

Joe, there was an enormous explosion in Indianapolis that leveled 2 houses and damaged 29 others, 2 people died on Nov 11 and no one determined the cause yet. Very mind boggling, after some bloggers posted possible cause by Drone Attack!? Do you have any info on this?
It, too was natural gas.
After the explosion in Snow Hill some years back I would never underestimate the power of natural gas. Some young guy who worked for the gas company arrived on the scene & ignited it somehow. It blew windows out at least a block away & blew the house with the gas leak to oblivion. He of course died instantly.
No, it wasn't. ATF stated IT WAS NOT AN ACCIDENT.
I work in Springfield about three blocks away from this disaster zone. Everyone who lives here knows that Worthington St. is where the remnants of the old Italian mob runs everything. The guys running that strip club pissed somebody off, so they got even.
