Look at it this way. The ONLY reason Obama has allowed this is because we are in a great depression, allow me to explain.

IF all of the people who are currently on welfare and food stamps, as well as section 8 housing were cut off, imagine the "Bread Lines" we'd see across our nation.

I told ALL of you years ago this was coming. Obama hid the seriousness of this problem by eliminating the Bread Lines so the Media wouldn't go nuts over it and America wouldn't look so bad as it actually should.

The Press is covering up how bad things truly are in America. Our government, (and mainly liberals) want you to borrow until it's all gone. Foreclosures are also being covered up. Many are being delayed and Banks are being forced to allow people to remain in their homes so the numbers don't actually show what they really are.

Then there's the cover up of all the people who are still out of work and no longer eligible for Unemployment.

Americans are simply getting used to this, (as well as current gas prices) as the new norm.

Wake up people.

Asking people to "wake up " is asking for the impossible. We have exceeded the tipping point of takers vs. makers. The consequences of taking from the productive and giving to the leeches will be the loss of our freedoms, our souls, and the American Dream. Like so many other times in history "social justice" , "income redistribution" or "bread and circuses" whate er you want to call up the end resultends is a Dictatorship , with the wealthy and powerful ruling class and the peasants. This is what America has voted for and there is no way to stop the enivitable now.

When you die the government wants 55% of your portfolio. How can our children pay that. We will soon be servants of the US government.

They won't wake up.In 2016 the Republican party will have to fight tooth and nail to get a president back into office.

Not just tuck you in... give you housing, rent, food, heat, a/c, TV, Internet, and cell phones... this also is being given as handouts to the so called poor.

I just can't believe all the votes for Obama in this last election...we have a lazy nation...it is all takers while the givers lessen everyday...were all in real trouble

And because the message seems to be it's all the Republicans fault while the Democrats have been the ones in charge since the last two years in the Bush administration. Let's see now - that would be a total of 6 years. Yet it's still the GOP.

Here's what I say. Let them have what they want. We the MAKERS will keep our goods and let the TAKERS fend for themselves.

Eventually we will start electing legislators who will return our country back to the FREE REPUBLIC it once was.

Will some folks get hurt? Yes, unfortunately that's the reality.

It is scary times....there are over 1100 foreclosed homes in Wicomico County alone. My husband does a lot of work on some of these houses, keeping them maintained, grass cut, etc. It's very sad.

All the extra welfare and unemployment payments have created a boom for illegals. They are willing to risk their life in coming to this country and feel blessed to get one of the millions of employment opportunities these poor, bread line candidates wouldn't stoop to for such wages - that is as long as the handouts are available. Take away the handouts and solve both the budget and immigration issues.

With the national media telling people that spending is way up it sends a false message. I wonder if any of that spending could be a result of people (like myself) stocking up on items that are said to be difficult to get in the future. I saw one WalMart store on the news where people were purchasing towels instead of toys. The media was just shaking their heads because they were puzzled.

Cap welfare benefits. No extra money after second child we're supporting.

I will never ever understand the mentality of someone who is so ignorant as to have a child when they themselves aren't self sufficient. And then continue to go on reproducing with mulitiple deadbeat Baby Daddy's. The woman who do this are buffons. This is the major problem. Woman who will settle for anything. I'm so glad I was picky when I was dating in the 80's and 90's. In my 20's they had better have had an education, a car and money in their pockets and then when I was in my 30's if they didn't own a home and have a career also they weren't good enough for me because I myself had all of that and I was not going to lower myself.
Now a days they have no problem going to visit their "man" in prison dragging children along. Hell would have frozen over before I would have gotten mixed up in that kind of situation.

The program needs a major overhaul. It has for many years. Many of the stories that are told or written about now are the same stories that I heard growing up as a kid. This didn't start last year. Everyone knows that it's broken, along with many other programs. Tell our elected officials to fix it and quit posturing and trying to look important.

What upsets me about welfare is if you have a job and just need a little help you can not get it. Let me quit my job and sit on my couch all day and I will have everything paid for. I truely think they have the whole system backwards.

I will admit there are a lot of takers, however, please don't lump us all into that catagory.

Without those programs, many who are really trying to better themselves would never get a chance to do so.

In fact at my age I may have to be retrained to do something else at this point in my life.

I am eligable for grant funding to learn a new trade, but if unemployment extensions are cut I just don't know what I am going to be able to do.

I am among the 2 million about to be cut off from unemployment. A liveable wage to pay my bills and a simple minimum wage job are two different things.

Is about to lose everything you have worked for all your life, any incentive to even try and do better when all you have on your mind is the freakin' cliff?

The program needs more accountability and responcibility to get people back to work. When they stopped job search requirements is where they screwed up.

12:00 I feel your pain. Safety nets are a must. But the reason Romney was such a good candidate was because he was a JOBS guy. He WANTED to create the environment where there were jobs to be had.

Sadly that has been taken away.

God Bless you and good luck. The churches and other benevolent people will help. Hang in there.

One day recently we went through Salisbury north to south on Rt. 13 and then west to east on Rt. 50 and took note of all the commercial building "for lease or for sale signs". The amount was startling, detroit came to mind. And this is before the full of effects of the re-election of Obummer kicks in. The wake up call has come and gone - it's time to prepare for hard times. We are just like pre-depression America in the 1920's.

I absolutely agree with Joe - we are in a depression. There are houses located up and down Mt. Hermon Road that have been vacant for several years now. I see yellow signs plastered on the front doors and it has been this way for several years.

The banks are delaying foreclosure, and look at all of the Independence cards. Everytime I go into Wal-mart I find myself behind an Independence card user.

And disability - it seems as though all of my neighbors are on it. This is not a full blown depression.

I collected unemployement benefits in the early 80's for a brief period of time(six months). Jobs were scarce for an unskilled 19 yr old. $69 per week allowed me to put gas in my car and buy some food. I could not afford rent so I ended up at my parents home. This experience was so embarrassing and degrading I took any job I could find. Today these benefits enable individuals as well as families to perpetuate a cycle of poverty and ignorance. Reduce the benefits and motivate the people to actually go find work.

I can't either, and I don't believe all the votes for obammy were actually intended for him.

I think he stole this election, and I think other pols did as well.

Being proven is another matter. I hope they succeed in doing that.

I have already been cut off, about a year ago, or so.

Now I have no money coming in, recently became disabled, been denied once for ss benefits and wouldn't be able to work even IF there were any jobs to be had.

Thank God my wife has a good job but we still struggle, just like everyone else.

I am not a 'professional benefits claimer'. I don't know all the tricks and the right words to say.

I honestly need help but have to 'prove' I'm not one of the scammers who just don't want to work or be responsible.

It seems one must lie, play the system, know the right phrases or persons, or however 'they' do it, to get help.

Hell, I paid into the system 30 years and when I ask for help?

DENIED!
