The Washington region has emerged from the recession looking even more affluent compared with the rest of the country, boasting seven of the 10 counties with the highest household incomes in the nation, new census numbers show.
With a median household income surpassing $119,000, Loudoun County heads the list. Fairfax County, at nearly $106,000, is second. Both have held the same positions for several years running.
More surprising, Arlington County leapfrogged from the fifth spot to third, with a median household income of almost $101,000, a $6,000 gain in one year. Four in 10 households in the county are single person, leaving Arlington with a relatively small share of residents whose affluence comes from two incomes, compared with Loudoun and Fairfax.

well that pretty much says it all. too many people in the governmenr and they are paid way too much. the entire nation is paying to have all these well to do people concentrated around DC. its not because industry or big business moved in to that area!
Scarier still - a number of these same counties are 'sanctuary' areas...
Sorry but Loudoun county is not mostly Goverment. Over 50% of the worlds internet is hosted here. There are hundreds of private companies that have nothing to do with the goverment. In addition if you have ever been to a chamber event in Salisbury you know you see the same faces and the same old ideas. Chamber events here are filled with people that have a vision and want to start new businesses that will contribute to societys growth. Salisbury is dominated by Lawyers, accountants, insurance sales, realators, funeral homes, grass cutters, and a few other jobs, and hospital workers. Nothing on delmarva is created to help people outside of delmarva. That is why that place will always be the way it is. The average person hardly stands a chance there. Get smart and move! I increased my income over 300% in less than 1 year. And by the way, the last time I was in Salisbury the gas cost more in Salisbury. lol Joe I hope you do get elected and will try to help change things if it is possible. If I lived in Salisbury you would have my vote.
I agree with your Chamber comments 3:37. They are Empty Chairs. Other areas are snatching up the businesses that have moved from other parts of MD such as Baltimore City while this Chamber is doing who knows what. This Chamber gets all jazzed up and excited when a new resturant or retail business opens but they should be concentrating on business that does not depend on the local economy like other places are doing such as internet.
Salisbury business developement is behind the curve and the results are they have lost opportunity that they will never get again.
