3rd Friday: Art & Entertainment in Downtown Salisbury

Salisbury, MD – This Friday September 21st, marks another 3rd Friday, the monthly street festivals where Art and Live Music take over Salisbury’s beautiful Downtown Plaza. Artists and Crafters fill the Main Street Plaza Area, and the shops and restaurants are open with special 3F sales and events. 3rd Fridays are free to the public, so come down, and experience local art against our Downtown’s beautiful backdrop!

The Main Street Plaza will be filled original artists, live art demonstrations, and local music. Local favorites, alex&shiloh, will be performing on the main Plaza Stage from 5:30 – 8pm. Combine an acoustic guitar, off-the-chart vocals, a bottomless repertoire of cover songs, borderline excessive amounts of sibling love, and original compositions… toss… and you’ve got alex&shiloh. The singer/songwriter duo has garnered a loyal local following as a generally adorable example of what happens when a brother and sister are friends first, siblings second, and innovative musicians all the time.

The Art Institute and Gallery will be hosting the 21st Annual National Juried Exhibition, with a special 3rd Friday reception from 5- 7pm. Be sure to stop in and see these amazing works from all over the country. Gail Postal will also have a solo exhibition on display in the Foyer Gallery. The W.O.R.K. Studio and Art Space will also be holding an open studio as well as a “meet and greet” with the resident artists. W.O.R.K is located on the second floor above Parker Place Building. Stop by and meet this group of young talented local artists who have decided to make their “art-home” downtown!

The Kids Activity Area on Government Office Building Lawn will also be “jumping” with Live Music from the “EdgeUcators”, and a giant moon bounce! The Edge-Ucators are a rock-n-roll band that plays for various school events. Band members come from all sectors of the Wicomico school community, writing educationally oriented lyrics to familiar tunes or totally new songs! Perfect for a back-to-school celebration! SWAC will also be in the Kids Activity Area hosting back-to-school arts and crafts!

3F is an all-volunteer effort, a downtown economic development initiative and a project of the Salisbury Arts & Entertainment District Committee. There is no charge for local artists to set up, only registration is required.
