DOJ Targeted Public Library for Lending E-Books 'Inaccessible' to the Blind

The U.S. Justice Department says it has reached a settlement with the Sacramento (California) Public Library over a trial program the library was conducting that let patrons borrow Barnes and Noble NOOK e-book readers.

DOJ and the National Federation of the Blind objected to the program on grounds that blind people could not use the NOOK e-readers for technological reasons.

So now tablets, smartphones, and e-readers are racist, too! Hooray! That makes everything racist! Freakin' IDIOTS!

The sun is now considered racist, since the blind cannot see daylight! We must censor the sun.

Did you READ the article? The NFB wants eReaders to have voice capabilities for the blind. Blind people should have the same rights to use eBooks the same as sighted people. No mention of RACE in the article. Guess it should have been written so STUPID people would understand. I suppose it is easier to be a hater than to educate yourself. Stupid is as stupid does.

Racist, prejudice, whatever! There are no "rights" here. It;s a technology available for use! Should cars be made unavailable and illegal for the same reason? The blind cannot drive them! Should auto manufacturers be sued over this?
My point is, the Libs are carrying things a little too far with this. If Barnes and Noble want to sell their NOOKS to the blind, the market will make it a profitible venture for them to add voice. But don't legislate the "free" market.
In your world, Hollywood made movies should be made illegal.

2:31 Ever see a book written in braille? It's on heavy PAPER. Oh! And it can be read. By blind people.

7:25 I won't even address your response as it is simply ridiculous. I am blind in sight, but not in vision. You have much a bigger issue than mine.

So you are saying every book in the library is available in braille? I'm sure not every book, magazine, encyclopedia is available in braille. This is no different.
