According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention cases of pertussis, or whooping cough, continue to rise so much so that some states have now declared epidemics.
While an epidemic has not yet been declared in Maryland, local health officials said we are keeping with the national trend.
"We are keeping a close eye on it," said Kurt Seetoo, MPH, Senior Epidemiologist Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
