In conjunction, with National Recovery month, which takes place every year in September, we have organized our 1st Annual Walk for Recovery, which will be a 5-mile Walk-a-thon to take place on the Ocean City boardwalk, on Saturday September 8, 2012. The walk will begin and end, near the inlet, in front of the Life Saving Museum.
Donations and Pledges are appreciated and we will have Prize Drawings at the conclusion of the walk. Many of the local businesses have donated gift certificates and our prizes are valued between $1 - $300.
Registration begins at 8:00am. The Mayor will be present to sign a Proclamation and say a few words at 9:00am and we have also invited some key speakers from around the state to say a few words to kick off our walk. We will begin walking at approximately 9:30am. This is the first event of this kind for the state of Maryland as well as our area.
Proceeds from this Walk will go towards: educational programs, raising awareness, helping to erase the stigma associated with addiction and events that benefit the recovering communities and their families.
