10,000 Communities Begin Crackdown On Drunken Driving

Over 10,000 communities across the country are continuing the campaign to crack down on drunken driving.

The hope is that this annual crackdown will highlight the overall impact law enforcement officials have on drunken driving.

Though the number of drunken driving incidents has gone down by 30 percent over the past five years,
the U.S. Department of Transportation says it's still a serious problem.

Watch the bars parking lots. I think a lot are coming from there.

@1:10 You are correct, sir.
If they really wanted to improve safety they'd crack down on ALL handheld devices while driving. More prevalent than drunks.

Well spoken for a drinking man.

It wasn't the beer that made me sick it was the sandwiches.
One drunk is one to many.

They need to get rid of drunk drivers. In July my kids age 17 and 18 were hit by a 27 year old drunk driver in Delaware. They were stopped at a traffic light and he hit them doing 50 miles an hour never even tried to stop. They could have been killed and were. Injured. They are both having to see orthopedic doctors and in physical therapy. My fear is that this guy will get a slap on the wrist and will drink and drive again. If people want to drink fine just don't get behind the wheel of a car and endanger others.

Anon 2:08, why do you assume the commenter had been drinking? So many more accidents now are caused by inattentiveness of text messaging, phone calls, etc. Drunk driving accidents have decreased significantly. Though I agree that one drunk driving accident is one too many.
Anon 2:09, I am sorry your kids went through that. I am glad they lived and wish them a speedy recovery.

How come some of these drunks still have freedom and a license after not one or two convictions, BUT dozens!! Talk about your repeat offenders......
