The reason the fires are occuring is in part due to the Environmentalists and EPA have banned the logging essential to have areas of clearing so they cannot jump to next tree and remove the older trees that the pine beetles love. The pine beetle has decimated huge areas of evergreens in Colorado turning trees into tinder. The removal of trees is necessary for Forest health, to prevent spread of such pests but the Tree huggers and EPA have decreased loggin by 90%. But you will hear them blaming it on Global Warming in order to pass Cap and Trade, the tax that when added to Obamacare will truly finish off the middle class.
