Chincoteague Police Department Poker Run for the Kids

The Chincoteague Police Department is to hold the 8th Annual "Ride for the Kids" Poker Run on Saturday, September 8, 2012 (Rain date 9/9/12). The bike event begins at Sting-Ray's in Cape Charles, Va at 11:00. It will be escorted by VA State Police with officers at each intersecton so no one will have to stop for traffic signals. They will stop at The Wine Rack in Onley, VA. Then will finish in Chincoteague to Don's Seafood Reastaurant where there will be an entire street blocked off for the Block Party that will run from 4:00 p.m. til 9:00 p.m. with live entertainment. There will be an auction prior to the Block Party where we be auctioning off various items that are donated to the department for the cause including beautiful decoy carvings by famous carvers from here in Chincoteague. The auction events and the block party are open to the public. There are raffle tickets for sale $5.00/ book of 6 or $1.00/single. The winner will be drawn after the auction. 1st drawing prize of $1,500.00, 2nd prize of $1,000.00, and 3rd of $500.00. The Chincoteague Police Department raised over $20,000.00 at last year's event. The proceeds go to helping children and families in Chincoteague who need help with clothing, food, utilities, medications, etc. This is a great cause and helps our community a great deal.
