GOP Plans To Cut $33 Billion From Food Assistance Programs
The Center for American Progress is out with a new study on how the Republican budget cuts to food assistance programs will lead to millions of low-income Americans including children going hungry. Earlier this month – the House Agricultural Committee passed legislation to cut 33 billion from food assistance. Those cuts will lead to 1.8 million Americans a year getting kick off food assistance – and nearly 300,000 children losing the free school lunch program. And here’s the kicker – Republicans aren’t using the savings from these cuts to lower the deficit or stimulate the economy – they’re putting the extra money toward $3 trillion in tax cuts for the Romney-super rich in America. The Republicans-slash-Libertarian vision for the future of this nation is one in which the oligarchs ride to work in their stretch limousines as millions of working poor Americans beg for food on the streets.

You people are so removed from what this country is really like. Yes there are some that abuse the system but many are working any job they can find and still can't make ends meet. When the economy tanked so many hard working middle class Americans have found out what it's like to live in poverty. There has been poverty in many areas of this country for ever. It's not that most people don't work or want to there are no jobs and even if you find something paying minimum wage the cost of living is so high you can't begin to pay your bills. I guess you guys want this to be a third world country with the very rich the very poor no middle class and people starving in the streets. Imagine what a great nation that will be.
Finally, I agree CUT CUT CUT entitlements... get out and work... do something even if you are partially disabled... just waiting every month for a government check is despicable unless you are basically bed ridden.
The numbers of people who are out and about doing things that supposedly need gov. assistance is out of control. Do something for yourself!
Poor people in this country have cars, cell phones, TV's, warm/cool homes to live in... If you want to see poor--go to India, or South America.. now there are people living in total poverty..

To 5:38-I don't know the statistics, but I would be willing to bet there are more rich commie liberals than there are rich Republicans. I do know for a fact (as does everyone except idiot liberals who choose not to) that Republicans give far more to charity than liberals do. Liberals are only generous with everybody else's money. Google search Joe Biden and Albert Gore's charitable contributions as compared to Mitt Romney or John McCain. You might be surprised to find out who is really going to rot in hell. To 7:39-Poverty is not a free apartment with color TV, microwave, running hot water and HVAC. Poverty is living in a cardboard hut and scavenging for food ever day like an animal. In case you haven't noticed it yet, we are already on the road to being a third world country and four more years of your hero will definately put us there. Charity? lol. You people don't know what charity is. If you see someone starving on the street you will tell them to get a job. You can't tell them where a job is but they are supposed to magically find one.
Or you would say they are not poor enough. If they can still walk and carry their cardboard house with them, they can do something.
If they were half dead you still wouldn't help them. It would be a waste, you'd say, they almost dead, let's give it to someone more able. But you won't.
You are full 15 or 20 minutes before you realize it.With that philosophy fewer people will actually go hungry.Their mothers can say "honey you are full and you don't even know it.Now go to bed"
