Public Water Users Could See Flush Tax Triple While Septic Users Would Pay Double

Many homes on public water and sewer in Maryland could see their flush tax triple to over $100 a year for the Bay Restoration Fund -- much higher than homes on septic systems, which would see the fee double to a $60 cap under Gov. Martin O’Malley’s proposed consumption-based tax.

Any given day you can see troopers hiding behind rocks and bushes trying to generate money, I mean, catch speeders. Even if the gas their wasting wasn't bad enough, why are we paying them to sit behind bushes?

Especially with so much CRIME going on. If they are going to waste gas anyway, waste it doing PATROLS.

Increased presence PREVENTS crime. More visible cop cars will LESSEN aggressive drivers, and other bad driving. Except of course the troopers bad habits.

Give your carpal tunnel a break and go look for something to do. Or take the unit back to the station and get on roof with binoculars.

You will catch about the same amount of criminals as you would behind that building/bushes shooting radiation and laser beams.

Here is what they are not telling you:

1. The flush tax had a positive balance of $25 million last year
2. The Governor stole this money to pay for the ICC collector road on the western shore (why simultaneously using that project to justify raising the bay bridge toll)
3. Now the Governor is saying the flush tax fund is broke so the rate needs to be raised.

Had he not taken earmarked funds and used them for a purposed us tax payers did not agree to fund then the flush tax fund would have $25 million in it!

The flush tax is actually a good thing. Those that live within municipal towns receive millions of dollars in state grants. That money comes from the flush tax. It allows them to do projects that they would otherwise not have money to do. Mandatory uprades. Things like ENR upgrades, lift station replacements, treatement plant upgrades. The list goes on and on. The people living within incorporated towns are being helped by th flush tax. You are taling about an extra 7.50 to 15.00 per year. Unfortunately, this is the cost of doing busness. If you can find a cheaper way....let somebody know. You may become rich off your idea.

We are taxed enough already we have a spending problem!

7:35...I have a better idea. Its called budgeting and not spending beyond your means. Like using our taxes for what they are suppose to be used for, not robbing funds to pay for pet projects or special interests, or lining some politicians pocket. Your "good thing" flush tax is just another way for them to collect more taxes from you. They had the money to pay for this except it was spend on something that wasn't justified. wake up...

LOL!! How is the "system" working for you heel-clicking storm trooper cheeering bozo's so far? Your "leaders" spend their entire days raisng taxes, fees, fines, surcharges, etc., and their spend their (long and undeserved) breaks figuring out what they HAVEN'T taxed yet and start taxing THAT. Then doubling and tripling the current ones. See any improvement in services? Any more efficiency in government? I mean OTHER than the efficient police "campaigns" that generate so much indirect tax they are hooked on it like heroin. Keep cheering. They need to know that you are still as stupid as rocks, which gives them GREAT comfort. And leeway.
