U.S. Sen. Barbara Mikulski Makes History

Maryland's Senior Senator Inducted Into National Women's Hall Of Fame

Maryland's senior senator made history this weekend.

Sen. Barbara Mikulski was inducted into the National Women's Hall of Fame Saturday. The other inductees included an equal rights champion, a pioneering chemist and the first woman to enter the Boston Marathon, a group of women who ignored the notion of impossibilities, 11 News I-Team reporter Deborah Weiner said.

"For many of us on the stage, and certainly for myself, what we knew was when people told us 'No, you can't do this, why are you doing this -- you're just going to cause trouble -- why don't you stay home, why don't you shut up, why don't you sit down,' well you know what, it just didn't work out that way," Mikulski said in her induction speech.

babs has represented the libs for years and years because there was no way we were going to "vote her out". the libs on the "left" side of our state kept here in.

if a great conservative were to run against her when it comes up again; we may be able to get her out. the climate really has changed.

it's very amusing to watch these characters. we NEVER hear from them until it's time to run again. otherwise they try to stay under the radar.

She's just another politician (this time, a woman), who thinks "serving" (a term THEY use to lend an air of humility to what is otherwise "taking" and "scammimg" and "stealing") in the Senate is a LIFETIME job. It was NEVER inteneded to be that by the founding fathers, but over time, the bribe taking and the elitism and the self-imposed "royal treatment" became too much to resist. Perhaps her NEXT award will be a jeweled crown and a robe? And she would ACCEPT it, too.

I am a moderately conservative Republican, active in Republican affairs; as such, Mikulski is at the opposite end of the political spectrum. However, I must give her her due: She works hard for her constituents. She just doesn't talk a lot, but she walks the walk. That is why she is so formidable an opponent. Those of you who make "Lesbo" references are revealing your supreme lack of intelligence. I don't know what her sexual orientation is, and I could not care less; it's the work she does for her people that counts.

Now that she is history, can she be made to be history like the guy in OC that was being paid $170K per year while he was charging their local Catholic church $1000 to rent a booth for charity fund raising at the recent Sunfest?

Like OC, MD needs to "go in a different direction".

For what being so fat that she's perfectly round?

8:28, lack of intelligence? come on you can do better than that! the facts are the facts! it's you who doesn't want to face reality!

8:28 spoken like a true log cabin republican!

Yes, 4:37, lack of intelligence. When all one can do is come up with comments like that, he/she is showing stupidity. And you don't know if they are the "facts," not that it should matter. Only politics should matter, not personal life or orientation. And I am NOT calling you stupid; the remarks you made are showing stupidity. You can do better.

9:32 is that yes an admission of being a member of the log cabin republicans? thought so!

No, I am not a "Log Cabin Republican." I am a straight Republican who tries to respect all people, no matter who they are. I did identify myself as "moderately conservative"; I am fiscally conservative and moderate-to-liberal when it comes to social issues. I do get a little riled, therefore, when I see postings referring to our Senator as "Lesbo." What does that have to do with anything? If you want to argue her politics, as I do, that's one thing. That should be the only thing that matters. People who don't have a whole lot of intelligence to understand politics will call names, because that's all they know how to do.

12:46 moderate on some issues and liberal on social issues, just another rino, you're part of the problem! maybe some day you'll figure it out. but I seriously doubt it! We've had enough of the likes of mccain, romney and all the other pretenders you favor!
look up what a true conservative
stands for!
