A Situation Unfolding

Let's start at the beginning. Cairo, Ill. is in danger of flooding if their levees break due to the fact that the Mississippi River is now over 61 feet above flood stage. The Army Corp of Engineers has positioned 250 tons of explosives into position to blow 2 miles of levee on the missouri side to save Illinois. This will flood approx. 130,000 acres of farmland in a state that is already experiencing an unemployment rate of 12%. AND the soil will likely be unusable as farmland for the forseeable future because as the water rushes over the soil it will deposit 2-3 feet of sand and silt. The state of Missouri exhausted every legal avenue and the US Supreme Sourt said yesterday that it will not stop the Corp from the planned blast. It will also flood two towns in Missouri where the residents have been FORCED to evacua te.
