The NFL lockout is back in force after a short hiatus last week. A St. Louis appeals court could determine as early as Monday whether the league deserves a permanent stay of an injunction granted to the players in Minnesota to block the lockout.
"We are in uncharted but fascinating legal territory," agent and attorney Ralph Cindrich said as he examined the short-term reinstatement of the lockout by three judges from the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. "The owners' lockout is temporary now; it can become permanent after the same three judges do a detailed review. If the lockout is reinstated, it puts the players down on points big."
If it's not, something Cindrich predicts, league business could resume almost immediately, even as more NFL appeals are filed. Cindrich believes that even though those judges voted 2-1 Friday to review the matter, they won't overturn Judge Susan Richard Nelson's original determination that the lockout was preventing the players from earning a living.
With the draft behind them, the 32 teams can't have contact with any players. That includes veterans along with rookies just selected. It also means undrafted free agents, who usually sign contracts hours after the seventh round concludes or the next day.

It'll be nice to have a NFL-free year, maybe the tv networks will show some real (college) football instead. NFL is totally unwatchable, so many penalties and commercials.
I would love to see the NFL played this year and do most Americans. College sucks. The union is rediculous, just like most unions today. Don't see any of them taking the financial risk. And yet, they are paid more in one year at the minimum rate than many Americans some make in 20 years at minimum hourly rates. Many can't read or write. Did you hear Cam Newton talk? OMG. What classes did he take in college? So lazy he first said he and his family were going on vacation. What an idiot!
That's how it's going to be with sports "stars". We're not giving them an education anymore, it's all about sports.
Then, we end up with these great players who are dumb as dumb can be and like 6:01 said, they can't even hardly talk.
Stop paying these players all this money! In ALL sports! Go back to making it about the GAME instead of the MONEY!
Go back to if you're grades drop, you're dropped from the team. Restart this process from Jr. High School.

The greed in America is famous. And for good reason. Just like the prior posters have said, these guys make in ONE YEAR what most of us will NEVER make in a lifetime. And they can't even spell the name of the town they were born in, or write a compound sentence. Yet they can't agree on how a couple of thousand people are going to divvy up almost $10 BILLION dollars! From the Walton family to the Gates's, we are NEVER happy until we have everything there is...all the money, all the land, all the everything. They act like they're taking a U-Haul to heaven (if they are allowed in). And it's disgusting. I sorta like my football games on a chilly winters day.
