Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Press Release

On Saturday April 30th the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office, the DEA, and the Maryland Coastal Bays program teamed up to collect unused and expired medications from the community. The medicine was collected and destroyed so as not to fall into the hands of someone that is not prescribed the medicine, and so the medicine does not leak back into the environment from flushing down the toilet. Food Lion food stores was a supporter of the program allowing the collection points to be established at their stores throughout Worcester County.

Worcester County Sheriff Mason and Chief Deputy Smack help staff many of the collection points collecting the medications.

The program was very successful and there are plans to continue these collection sites throughout various times during the year.
