Weekends Now Look Like Week Days

What used to be a minimum drop in traffic on weekends by at least 50% is now running neck and neck with week day traffic.

Over the past few weekends we've notice a much higher volume of traffic on weekends. Perhaps most stayed at home this weekend but let me assure you, with these kind of numbers its a whole lot more than that.

Pork in the Park must have been a pretty big flop this weekend because everyone I talked to said they either stopped by and left because of disappointment or they simply didn't go at all. I'm one of those people who didn't go at all.

I have always been disappointed in the fact that those competing aren't necessarily serving their award winning food there, so what's the point. We went to Game Zone again Friday night, it was consistent and very enjoyable. The crowd keeps growing every week. Like most, I did a lot of yard work yesterday and will continue to do so today.

Unfortunately, Bike Week will be upon us again this year and without Harley Davidson being involved, expect this event start flopping as well. As much money that is brought into the county each year for these events you'd think they could hire someone to market them to be just as big as other Bike Week events throughout the country. This year will  be the last shot at doing so. We'll have to see what happens.

By the way, I saw one of the pork competitors heading north on Rt. 13 yesterday afternoon. When I used to do trade shows in the past, if you packed up early you'd get a massive fine. They should do the same for sore losers.

Harley Davidson is involved out of their Seaford location; in fact they are the promoters. There is apparently going to be another outfit at the inlet this year during Bike Week, it's just not part of the official "Bike Week" venues.

Man you need to think again! Bike Week will be bigger than ever this year and will continue to grow with Harley Davidson continuing to be involved.

Pork in the Park was full Friday night and everybody seemed to enjoy themselves. Saturday was off because of obvious reasons much like any outside activity was.

You talk like you depended on the Sheriff's Department for all your information. You are wrong on this two subjects.

This said with all due respect.

This is soo typical of SBYNEWS!

You don't like the event so you trash it. You've got too much potential to sink to these levels.

Try again Joe, PLEASE. I actually like you and SBYNEWS.

They'll do the normal places to be seen in OC I'm sure but... Wait until all the bikers figure out that booze in the Town of Fenwick is 10% cheaper on taxes alone in OC. Unfortunately, there's not enough parking to hold all the bikes.

anonymous 10:43, I never said I didn't like the event, stop putting words into my mouth. I said it's a shame they don't have the same vendors serving award winning food there. I, (like many) had better things to do this weekend and from what I have heard, (from many) it was not as big a success as it had been in years past.

Oh, I should add, at least I'm MAN enough to use my real name and not be such a wussy by hiding behind anonymous.

Bill, (if that's your real name) funny how I am at thousands of events every year and tell people in ADVANCE where I'll be and not one of you pansy tough guys have ever done anything. You see Folks, its a lot of hot air, just like Taylor and Granny were going to picket Pani Pit Pizza.

Just know this Bill. I WILL protect myself by any means possible. So YOU better be prepared Mr. Tough Guy.

Speaking of Pani Pit Pizza, we stopped by there Friday evening (first time visit) and wow, what a great pizza. The best pizza in Salisbury, for sure! Even had a few slices leftover to bring home for lunch the next day!
After eating Pani Pit Pizza, you will never want another greasy Lombardi's pizza ever again or a million dollar pizza (price wise) from Pizza Hut!

Notice how the bully tough guys shut their fat traps when they're caled out. That's right, I announce most of the places I plan on attending and there wussy's never show their faces.

Joe, both of the events you are talking about have grown in size every year. Unfortunately, you can't conrol mother nature.

Maybe if you could read the signs telling you how to get there they would do better. Half the bulbs are not working. You would think with all the money they get for their events, they could afford some bulbs.

With a speculation in rising taxes as well as out of control gas prices I simply had to cut the PORK fat festival this year. I never said I didn't enjoy seeing friends there and getting something to eat.

Like Joe said, why don't the award winning compeditors sell their products to us locals? Shabby competition if you ask me, let everyone have a taste if they care to.

Speaking of events at Winterplace Park, please come to the "Cause for Paws: Walk for Animals" on May 7th. You can call the Humane Society for more information or go on their website.

wussy...I love that word...that was 70's H.S. jargon ..

Joe you make me smile at the weirdest times

Well I can tell you first hand that no motorcycle event will be held at or near Rehoboth Beach, DE.

The motorcyclist club informed the township of Rehoboth that they might reconsider if they elected to remove all of the red-light cameras that are currently located on their Beach Hwy. Similar events - red light cameras are a huge deterent.

I'm a member of the Lower Shore Latino League, a new upstart for the Latin Community. I have just begin reading your site and would like to comment about the Pork in the Park. While there were many who showed up, I side with you that it was not worth going to. Many members of the LSLL tried to spread the word that there was going to be many members of Latin Kings and MS-13 there and may be some trouble. I do not know if this happened but you can never be to safe. Keep up the good work Mr. Joe - you doing good for the community.

I was there Friday night ready to spend my money on good bbq to bring home to the family. I was also prepared to go Saturday as well knowing that the bad weather should not have hit until later in the day. After looking at lack of options on the menus, I chose not to go back on Sat. I have been going for several years and it the food part of the event seems to get worse every year. Not only is the food not great, but there were vendors out of food on Friday night!!! I agree with you Joe, this event is supposed to be centered around the food. I think I will just skip it next year and save my money.

Joseph,
As someone that is close to you and calls you friend,it's time to shut this site down and enjoy your life. Your family doesn't deserve being put through this anymore and I know them very well. You can do other things with your life

I left the last comment and want to make it clear that you caused what is happening and it's time for you to make things right with your family.

Caused what is happening?

Forgive me Folks. Turns out it was Tom McGuire who made 2 comments without any spelling errors, so he fooled me. Then he came back with two more that proved just how big an Idiot he can be, I rejected them. This is a guy who he and his live in thingamabopper wished Brooke Mulford dead and he wants to give me family advice, too funny.

The lightening closed Pork in the Park this weekend, and it should have....I had not been in several years because I was miserable there. This year I decided to go again, and went twice! Saturday AND Sunday. I must say that Smitty and On the Edge brought it home!!!!!!!!!! They were definitely on top of their game! My only complaint was the cost for my children to ride..I expected it though.

from what i heard, pork in the park may have broken their attendance record with close to 4000 showing up on friday alone. obviously the weather on saturday didnt help. however, to say it was a "pretty big flop" seems like a stretch.

Anonymous said...

well now that pork in the park is over, we have to get ready for pork on the road. ever seen some of those women on the back or thoses bikes? lmao! halloween for idiots. dress up like the hells angels and ride around from point a to point b tying up traffic and letting everyone know I'm an idiot and I'm here. Get a life! When was the last time you tutored a child? that would take brains, when was the last time you helped a neighbor? visited a shut in? Oh yeah that's right it's all about me!

There was record attendance on Friday and also on Sunday...the weather hurt attendance Saturday.

Can't make any comment on the food vendors as I was away and could not be in attendance.

10:20....do you have even the faintest idea of how much Belmarva bike week infuses into the local economy.

And if you are mentoring children I hope your aren't teaching them to judge people by the clothing they wear..pretty shallow thinking if you ask me.
