By Pamela M. 'bout time! That ought to cut the rolls significantly - but then we'll be paying to house them in jail......

GREAT idea! You have to pass a drug test to WORK for the agency that passes out the money and you have to pass a drug test to get a job so that your taxes can be taken from you to pay these benefits. The ONLY people in the chain who aren't held to ANY standard of behavior are people like obama's aunt (and millions like her) who have lived in free housing, with free medical care and free electricity and free daycare for YEARS. But they will squeal about this and you know why.

How about a "car test?" If your car is worth more than $5k, you don't get welfare.

I would also like to see a "phone test." If your cell phone bill is more than $40/mo or you have a smartphone in your pocket, you don't get welfare.

Personally, these people need to be productive for getting our money. Here are more ideas of mine...

- If you don't have a high school diploma, you must enroll in a GED program and maintain a B average.

- In order to get public assistance, you must work for the state at least 30 hours a week. Let's fill in gaps in public works departments with people on welfare.

- If you have a diploma, you may also elect to do other jobs, like volunteer at the fire house. At the minimum, you can wash the trucks, sweep the bays, cook food, etc. Similar jobs in other worthy places would also be allowed. Think of Americorps here.

- If you can't do public works types of jobs, you can volunteer in the schools.

- Another option - you can work at welfare daycare, taking care of the kids of people who are working in public works.

- If you have kids, they must meet minimum attendance standards and maintain a B average.

I love 1:10 thoughts on the subject, but I am sure you forget that is not Obama's plan; he wants most people looking for handouts so he and the Democrats can keep thier jobs while the few of us work and pay his salary while Michelle takes AIr Force One to Wal Mart to shop...

They tried that before,in NYC-a program called "Workfare" or something like that. The people who were posted to work cleaning up parks and whatnot complained it was deameaning to pick up trash to collect benefits and it was squashed.
