Media Matters: Guerrilla War Against Fox

The liberal group Media Matters has quietly transformed itself in preparation for what its founder, David Brock, described in an interview as an all-out campaign of “guerrilla warfare and sabotage” aimed at the Fox News Channel.

The group, launched as a more traditional media critic, has all but abandoned its monitoring of newspapers and other television networks and is narrowing its focus to Fox and a handful of conservative websites, which its leaders view as political organizations and the “nerve center” of the conservative movement.

“The strategy that we had had toward Fox was basically a strategy of containment,” said Brock, Media Matters’ chairman and founder and a former conservative journalist, adding that the group’s main aim had been to challenge the factual claims of the channel and to attempt to prevent them from reaching the mainstream media.

The new strategy, he said, is a “war on Fox.”

Media Matters, Brock said, is assembling opposition research files not only on Fox’s top executives but on a series of midlevel officials. It has hired an activist who has led a successful campaign to press advertisers to avoid Glenn Beck’s show. The group is assembling a legal team to help people who have clashed with Fox to file lawsuits for defamation, invasion of privacy or other causes. And it has hired two experienced reporters, Joe Strupp and Alexander Zaitchik, to dig into Fox’s operation to help assemble a book on the network, due out in 2012.

ask yourselves; why is soros getting brock and associates to spend all this time and money to do this?
soros and brock are EXTREME left marxist/socialist (admittedly so).

they hate fox and any other conservative outlet.

can they say with honesty that msnbc, abc, cbs, nbc, pbs, npr and cnn are "middle of the road"? not hardley. of course then their are all the left blogs and news sites. it's not like they don't have ways to get their propaganda out there.

they are just upset that their are many more viewers, listeners and readers in the conservative and independent movement.

always consider the source. is there something to hide? duh.....
let's just hope this backfires as i believe it will.

Soros IS the ruler of the Democrat Party in this country. Soros stands to make even more millions if the US continues to ban drilling for oil and natural gas at home and purchase oil from Brazil (Petrobas Oil is owned by Soros thanks to Obama giving him 2 billion in taxpayer funds his first year in office) and the natural gas company that Soros has invested heavily in in Papua New Guinea. It is all about monopolising Energy--and preventing us from producing our own domestic supply. Only if Soros can keep the Democrats in power can he fulfill his dream of becoming the worlds first and only trillionaire.

5:36 Just because they pay the most doesn't mean they are the best.

They have a track record of getting facts wrong or flat out distorting them. Hell they even took a group of reporters all the way to the Florida Supreme court in order to have the right to lie, I'm sure you won't believe me since they obviously would not have reported it on Fox. But take 5 minutes to actually research something for yourself.

As it stands right now Fox can not be broadcast in Canada and the UK because both of those countries have a law in place stating that a news organization can not knowingly broadcast false or misleading information.

8:27 PM

Dear 8:27 pm, Read what you wrote and then read your first amendment. Our country cannot make a law such as that, and we like it like that. If you want your information screened by your government, I suggest you move to your Canada or your UK. Have a nice trip~!

4:59 I agree, the 1st amendment is a good thing and I wouldn't change it for anything, but shouldn't a NEWS organization actually just report the news, shouldn't there be a standard to which we as a viewer hold them, and do our own thinking and checking to make sure we are not being mislead.

I'm not saying that Fox is the only one that gets their facts wrong or that has a bias, but with a track record like its, and with its top 3 highest rated shows actually being opinionated commentary, by what are obviously conservatives anyone that says they are "Fair and Balanced" never checks any facts or wants to look at things from any viewpoint but their own.
