Salisbury Police Department Press Release

On February 21, 2011 at approximately 9:40 am, Officers of the Salisbury Police received a call to respond to a residence on the four hundred (400) block of Hastings Street for the report of an assault involving a firearm.

Upon arrival the officers met with several witnesses that advised the officers that two (2) suspects had been involved in a fight in the roadway that resulted in one (1) suspect producing a shotgun. The witnesses advised that the fight had broken up and that no shots were fired from the weapon. The officers were given a possible location of the firearm and responded to a second residence, also on the four hundred (400) block of Hastings Street. The officers met with the occupants of the residence and were given consent to search for the shotgun. The shotgun was not located, but officers did locate a quantity of suspected marijuana and related paraphernalia. During contact with the occupants of the second residence, the officers located one (1) of the parties involved in the reported altercation. This subject advised the officers that there were no firearms involved in the altercation and was unable to provide information concerning the other involved suspects. The identified party was a juvenile and had sustained only minor injuries that did not require medical attention. The investigation of the altercation and to establish ownership of the suspected marijuana is continuing.
