Joe there were 3 in two days.

4 hours ago 6.3 South Island of New Zealand

16 hours ago 6.4 South of the Fiji Islands

Yesterday 4.5 Baja California, Mexico

This is due directly to the recent very large solar flares that affected the magnetic field of the earth. I was monitoring a site that follows these cosmic events closely. It was apparently very close in size to a flare that could have interrupted sattelites, communications, and affected the power grid.
