Md. Residents Have New Options For Car Registration

WASHINGTON - Starting Monday, Maryland drivers have new options for registering their vehicles.

The Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration is now telling drivers to renew their registrations online, over the phone or at a self-service kiosk.

For an additional processing fee, drivers also can renew at a licensed Tag & Title service.

The changes are aimed at allowing drivers to avoid a trip to an MVA branch office and making the agency more efficient.

However, if there's a flag or an insurance violation on a car's record, the driver will still have to register face-to-face at an administration office.

Meanwhile, there are no registration changes this year for drivers living in Virginia or D.C.

For more information, visit the MVA website.

10:07-Elimination of asinine waiting times at the DMV...Priceless. I heard about this a couple months back, renewed online in December.

Most people will not use this! Just like they won't go online and do their registration renewals.
So when the dealers have to go in to process the paperwork on vehicles sold, we have to wait hours to get serviced. Now they won't let dealers present paperwork after 3pm which causes even more headache for the dealers.
Individuals renewing their registrations would rather sit in MVA for an hour and complain than to use the other options available to them!

When businesses and government entities consistently get hacked for personal info and CREDIT CARD info, I can see why a lot of people are reluctant to do on-line registrations. When the MVA gets hacked, they send you a "sorry, keep an eye on your credit, okay?" letter. When a business gets hacked, they give 1-3 years of free credit monitoring. If this is more efficient, will the fees go down to compensate the public??? Lol!! I know...I'm DREAMING.... they'll save money and screw the public.

Ok now when can they go back to the old style tags ..... the 1812 tags are ugly and people should still be allowed the option to have the black and white standard tag.... its a bunch of crap that i have to be stuck with this til 2015

5:56 - Your comment makes no sense.
When you go to the counter at MVA, they are processing your tags renewal ONLINE idiot! It's the same thing!
Yes, you ARE dreaming but you're obviously one of those who would rather complain than do something yourself to improve a situation!

Idiot?? LOL!! At the counter, I can pay with cash or check, so I don't care what else they do on-line...it's my credit card info i worry about....and I'm only complaining about the State's efforts to save themselves money, but not pass those savings on to the citizens. Thats idiotic?? Man. Improving the situation? I'm ok with the "situation" as it is, but of course, there is always some government employee looking to "improve" things. You aren't one of THEM, are you?????
