Worcester County Sheriff’s Office Press Release


The Worcester County Sheriff’s Office proudly announces the swearing in of the new Worcester County Sheriff Reggie T. Mason and Chief Deputy John Dale Smack on Monday December 6, 2010.

Sheriff Mason succeeds long time Sheriff Charles T. Martin. Sheriff Martin held the office of Worcester County Sheriff for 16 years. He and Retired Sheriff Kenneth Tyler are the only two retired Sheriff’s living today. Sheriff Tyler was Worcester County Sheriff from 1958 to 1966. Sheriff Martin held the office from 1994 to 2010.

Sheriff Mason was appointed Chief Deputy by Sheriff Daniel McAllister in the 1980s. Sheriff Martin reappointed Sheriff Mason to the office of Chief Deputy in 1994 when he took office.

Sheriff Mason takes on the role as top Law Enforcement officer for the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office and is committed to the citizens of Worcester County in keeping Worcester County a safe place to live.

It's a great day for Worcester County! And, next January, when Beau Oglesby and Mike McDermott are sworn in as Sates Attorney and Delegate for 38B, respectively, Worcester will have a complete crime fighting team and a strong voice in Annapolis.
