I am surprised that the office did not shoot back at him. Not trying to second guess the officer but he should have filled this idiot full of lead right then.
What this guy did was very wrong, but pray for your children, hug your children, spend time with your children, and help them to make good choices. I have to wonder at what point in this kid's life did something happen to make him do a very bad thing like this.
There's more to this story a kid like this just doesn't start shooting at a cop. Sounds like mental or drug induced issues.

agreed 12:40... for starters, why was this kid armed with a loaded gun, laying down on the front seat of his car parked on the side of on a dead end street with very few houses at 1 am? There is definitely more to this story!

I wonder the same thing what happened to make Wyatt want to do these things? He was in trouble before he was 18 and very thankful for his family support that he was able to have a chance to make better decisions than before. I know the kind and loving Wyatt, this Wyatt I do not know! Before you judge if you have children 18-22 make sure you know their friends! Wyatt went to school, worked part-time, was loving to his family, always helping his grandmother......I could go on and on.....how could any adult who knew Wyatt not know any of the other side? His good friends are as shocked as we are......they didn't know this side either! I just pray that Wyatt turns himself in and gets the help needed. He needs to face what he has done...and get the help that he needs. From someone who is very concerned and sad.
1:14p.m. This young man SHOT at a law enforcement officer. It pertains to all of us, and to our safety. Somewhere, there is a young man who obviously has some problems, walking around in OUR neighborhoods with a loaded weapon. So no, I won't stop worrying about it. I can tell you this much, if he showed up on my door step I would give him some therapy. Glock therapy.

Give ne a break. You make Wyatt out to be a saint. When he was in school, he was always in trouble, suspended or at least in the office. Also, don't forget that he just got out of jail for beating another person with a baseball bat. Loving grandson??? I heard he stole guns from his grandparents house and he is a suspect in a number of other incidents on the west side.
Give me a break! This kid went wrong years ago and there is no excuse now. For those looking for answers, look first at his parnts and home life. His parents always covered for him and talked their way out of trouble in the past.

Incident: Assault First Degree
Date of Incident: 31 August 2009
Location: 6700 block of Levin Dashiell Road, Salisbury, MD
Suspect: Wyatt A. Young, 16, Hebron, MD
Narrative: On 31 August 2009 at 6:03 PM, a deputy from the Wicomico Sheriff’s Office investigated an altercation that occurred on Levin Dashiell Road. The deputy located a victim who stated that while driving on Ocean Gateway, the victim was being followed by another subject, Wyatt Young, who was driving erratically and attempting to run the victim off the road. The victim pulled off of Ocean Gateway onto Nanticoke Road then onto Levin Dashiell Road where the victim stopped. Young also stopped, exited his vehicle brandishing a baseball bat and began threatening the victim. The victim stated that Young threatened to kill him and began chasing him. When the victim stopped, Young wound up with the bat and struck the victim in the leg. Witnesses called 911 to report what was happening.
Young was gone upon the arrival of the deputy. The victim required transport to PRMC due to injuries sustained in the assault. The investigating deputy located Young at his residence in Hebron where he was placed under arrest. Due to the nature of the crime, Young was charged as an adult.
Young was transported to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, Young was detained in the Detention Center by the Commissioner in lieu of $25,000.00 bond

Now I said I certainly do not condone any such action and I know what he did was way too far and I would say highly unintelligent. I am not a "cop hater" or whatever because they are more brave than any of the people who have commented on this post because they risk getting shot and we won't even admit who we are on this site. So for whoever you are saying the cop should have shot him, or you would give him "glock therapy" you are obviously no better than he. You are obviously just as simple and immature as the one you are targeting, not to get biblical but he who has not sinned may cast the first stone.
Oh and for the second 6:51 I most likely know much more about this than you do, your post wasn't even relevant, you should stop trying to insult people when you truly have no idea what your talking about :)

Yes its a shame this had to happen. His parents,friends,and family must be going through pure agony. Please everyone try not to judge each other. Trust me you dont know what will happen in your OWN life tommorrow. Be thankful the trooper is okay and pray for Wyatt to do the right thing. GOD will be the judge in the end not us.
I pray he will turn himself in and quick. Everyone will rest easier. My guess is he was drugged up or drunk from a college party and pulled over just before passing out. Maybe he had Four Loco.

I appreciate your putting information on your site that is not on the news. I also appreciate the fact that both points of view can be posted. However, is it possible to eliminate posts that speak of killing people, frying them, glock therapy, hurling insults, etc.? In a civilized society I would hope people can express themselves in a more CIVILIZED way.
There are those who want this young man to be prosecuted without even knowing whether there is truth associated with the CHARGES at this point. And there are those who may know this kid from baseball, school, or on a personal or even family level who have their hearts broken and do not even know if he's still alive.
What if a parent or brother or sister is reading these posts about their child or sibling? I just expect more compassion and am very disappointed that the ignorant posts seem to come up all too often.
We don't really know what took place, the frame of mind of this kid, whether it was him or not, etc. This entire thing is just very very sad. I am appealing to you as the moderator of these posts to keep them more civil. Thank you!!!
I feel sorry for teenagers growing up in today's world. You never know who your kid is going to school with or riding the bus with, etc. Someone may show up to a party with a gun or knife and you never know what they will do. Also, you never know who has drugs on them and if they plan to put them in someone's drink. It is never good to go to a party where there are people you don't know. This is what keeps parents of teenage high school students and college students on edge. It's a sad society we live in these days.

I agree about innocent before guilty but if this didn't involve Wyatt, why doesn't he come forward and clear his name. His silence and the silence of the family tell me that he was the one in the car and did the shooting.
I also question why he was down a dead end road by himself with a gun? If he was coming home from a party, why did he have a gun?
Yes, I feel sorry for his family and friends but he apparrently has no concern for them for doing this. If he cared or needed help, he had people he could have gone to.

Really? "....He's such a nice, caring young man, He's a good kid,..." The same statements were made by friends and family of some of the most violent offenders in history.
The facts are that he: A. Shot at a uniformed, identified police officer , who also had his visual warning lights activated, and B. Is no stranger to violence, as is indicated from a previous post.
Excuses for him are probably what groomed this type of behavior.
This happened in Misty Creek, the same neighborhood Wyatt lives in and that I live in. There have been multiple robberies and guess who was suspected to be doing it? Wyatt... so 8:59 i am pretty sure he wasnt just pulling over before he passed out.. he was not even a mile away from his house.. this is a good thing so now misty creek can be at peace again

There is a road heading West if you don't like it here. Did someone force you to move here or did you move here on your own free will? If it was your choice to move here I guess you made a bad choice since you hate it so much here. My guess is you couldn't make it across the bridge so you moved here and think you are superior to others. Get over yourself. I did not grow up on the shore it was our choice to move here more than 20 years ago. I like it here a lot more than across the bridge.
Children need rules to live by, as do the parents. When a child is left to raise him or herself with no constructive discipline or accountability given with love for his/her actions, this is the end result. When parents are not themselves accountable for their actions, how then can the child be taught those values. When you bring a child into this world you are responsible for that life. Many children today are spoiled, undisiplined and allowed to do or go whatever or wherever they please. At 16, this kid should have been too busy working, whether for pay or not to be out beating someone else or shooting at a cop. We took God out of the Schools, the ability of the schools to disipline our children and the parents simply don't. We have a nation in chaos largely due to zero accountability. Tax evaders, crooks, liars and theives. All of you take a look at what Billy Graham said on his 90th birthday about the world. It starts with our children and the values we do or do not give to them.

please turn yourself in wyatt everyone is safer with you behind bars. his mother needs to be charges as an accomplice. i heard she found illegal guns, and instead of calling the police, she gave them back to wyatt. what kind of mother does that? sad to say wyatt has a better chance of reform in jail, than anywhere around that woman. she herself has had several run ins with the law, wich includes drug possession,dui,domestic violence, not to mention 5 marriages ,more men have been in and out of his life than if he lived in a brothel. cindy for once in your life stand up and take responsibility for your child and your actions that have led him to this tragic time in his life.

I find it very interesting that there is even a remote outpouring of support for this idiot. I can't help but bring up the race card. If this was a black guy all kinds of ignorant stuff would be put up about "kill him" or "stupid thug" and all that, yet this white kid shoots at a cop and people are talking about how he was a nice boy and whatnot.
