Montgomery County - Taxpayers Have Become Servants Article

Joe:

Did you read this article?  The same scenario is going to happen in Wicomico, Worcester, Dorchester, Worcester.  It is inevitable.

It is not a question as to will it happen - the bigger question is as to when it will happen.

At the last Wicomico County budget session taxpayer advocate Patrick Doyle alluded to the same scenario being played out here in Wicomico.  In fact, in Pollitt's proposed budget he pointed out about Wicomico putting off funding the Pension fund in an effort to try and balance the budget.  Pat Doyle stated publicly that;

"This type of budgeting is totally unsustainable".  He also cited that several municipalities have already filed for bankruptcy.

Recent National Events
First - budget shortfalls caused riots in France.  Then a few months ago you saw strikes and riots in Greece.  Ireland is now in dire financial straits and just today you are hearing about the Euro being pounded as a result run-a-way European debt in yet another European country - Portugal.

This same scenario is going to transpire here in America very shortly.

This was the plan all along and when anarchy starts the administration will declare martial law and then we will be a communist country!

First of all , I would like to thank obama for this wonderful change. I've always wanted to live like a communist.
I think obama is as close to Idi Amin as you can get .
They both butchered their country and people , I've told you before , it's a culture thing.
obamie has got to go!!!

Our US Treasury Secretary - Geitner- already has asked our President to plan yet a 3rd round of Federal stimulus funding as the unemployment numbers haven't improved.

You know what that means - printing more money - and inflation. If you haven't noticed - gasoline is now almost $3.00/gallon.

You want change America - you got it!

I wouldn't place much credence on Wicomico's recent bond ratings either.

Remember - it was the same two credit rating agencies-(Moody's & S&P)- that gave Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac an open arm endorcement right up until their collapse.

Remember, in Europe, they have disarmed the population. Most people are quite subservient to their government, with the notable exception of that historically anti-authority group--- students. However, in THIS country, when people start starving and going without electricity, and their children begin to suffer, the entire National Guard of the nation and all the military this government can muster to put in the streets to kill other Americans, well, they will have no chance against the MILLIONS of well armed (and by then, desperate and angry) citizens who have, simply put, had enough. See ya soon.

This is exactly why the Tea Party movement has coalesced. We the People -(Americans) - also see ourselves as now servants to the Government. The system is breaking down before your very eyes. It is going to get worse before it gets better.

As Thomas Jefferson said

' A little revolution every now and then is good for a democracy'.

To 7:48 Post - Amen!

And Finally, it's about time and it looks as though our demented politicians have woken-up a sleeping giant - We The People.

The salaries and number of employees is much greater in Montgomery county. Wicomico county offers low pay, and has relatively few employees. Are you suggesting that we have no employees working for the county, or what. Once an employee retires, they go into the pension fund, which the county does not have to support that employee any longer. The county only makes a contribution to the pension while an employee is employed. This scenario will only happen if the State forces the county to fund the teachers pensions, which they have been threatening to do. This is wrong, since they have allowed the teachers salaries to become so high, and taking any power away from the local governments in regards to education, but now they would like the counties to foot the bill for the monster thy created. If you should be worried about anything it should be that.

To 8:24 - You missed the point. The County has not been making and maintaining its employee contributions during the last budget cycle. This is how they have been able to help balance the budget.

You and every Wicomico taxpayer should be very alarmed.
