Breastfeeding should be and IS allowed in public. Why not? Most of the time you can't even tell when a momma is nursing her little one...it just looks like they are sleeping.
as long as mom is being discreet about it... doesn't bother me. its the moms who just willy nilly whip out boobs in the middle of the mall that gross me out.
When my son was a baby I was sitting at the head of a large table when he clearly was very hungry. I needed to feed him and was nervous about doing so with so many people around. Eventually I gave in a nd discreatly fed him. No blanket thrown over my shoulder, just the folds of my sweater covering his face. It must have been very descreate because my husband asked me later when I was going to feed him. I said, "I just did."
Yes, babies are 'on demand' for the most part. Some places have nice areas for nursing moms (on the eastern shore I don't know of any). Breastfeeding was there before bottles.
I fed my babies all on demand and carried around a little receiving blanket to drape over my shoulder while doing it. Breast milk has so many good things for the babies immune system that you will never find in formula. Plus the sound of mommas heartbeat gives the familiarity of being in utero. Some women are blessed with so much milk that they can donate or sell it to hospital's like A I duponts to help the sick premies. 20 years ago you could get $15 a pint. Kick back, watch a movie, have nurses bring you as many milkshakes as you want and pump it out.
If there is going to be a ban on feeding babies in public why not ban everyone from eating in public. What's fair is fair. That would certainly stimulate the economy...NOT!!!
Are people really that prudish about breast feeding? Get over yourselves.
..Should pregnant women be allowed out in public forcing everyone to think about how they got that way??? Breastfeeding is not a sex act! It's a mother feeding her baby the very best food that she possibly can.It can be done discreetly.
I cannot believe that all of the people who wrote commentaries here really feel that breastfeeding is so offensive that it needs to be done in secret. If people are that offended by others body parts then have all of these guys pull up their pants because I am tired of seeing their butts, have all of the overweight girls with fat oozing out of their garments wear something reasonable so I don't have to see something that offends me. The whole subject is about self respect and a whole lot of our citizens need to get some. Dress like you want someone to take you seriously and act the same way.
Don't think so. My wife breastfed all of our children and used the pump so she or I had a bottle to feed our children in public whenever they were hungry. My wife considered it inappropriate to do this in public. She was modest and did not want to subject anyone else to seeing her do so.
I don't see the big deal about breasts. Women should be able to go shirtless if they like or sunbath at the beach. Most the men on the shore have breasts and go shirtless.

Yes! How would you like to eat your lunch in the bathroom.
absolutely. i'm 50, and i still love to be breast fed every chance i get!
As long as the breast feeding is discreetly covered I have no problem.

What's the big deal?
Please... no.
Nor should we change diapers in public.
YES YES YES
Yes of course, its only natural.
why? sex is natural? if were discreet about that, does that mean sex in public is OK too?
As long as the mother is discreet and the kids being breast fed isn't 14, it's okay with me.

Although some may disagree, sex is not a necessity.
Omg yes! Who the heck cares if someone whips their breast out to feed their child? If it bothers you, then don't stare.
10:52 You must be a Progressive, everything is about sex.
I think the government should get out of our lives and focus on the economy !

Yes, babies need to be fed and don't always do so on a schedule. You may need to feed a baby in public.
Nursing is one of the best things you can do for your child..you shouldn't be ashamed of it.
I have yet to see a woman waving her boobs around in public while nursing. Most of the time you don't realize that is even what she is doing.

Not in PG County. Poor kid might get a mouth full of dirty cash.
no.thats why the breast pump was designed.pull your boobies out at home if you want i dont want to see then nor do i want my children to see them.

Got a good laugh, thanks!
Only if done in discretion. It's a natural act but so is sex. No one needs to see it.
Yes! Might rather see that, then the cracks of these young kids butts!
No thank you. If you want to great, but I find it offensive in every way.

That would apply to you as well

That's a good idea. All the benefits of mothers milk without whipping the breast out in public.
To the other posters:
What is the big deal with showing some modesty and consideration for others? No one is asking mothers to hide or to be ashamed of feeding their child.
I don't think its prudish to ask mothers to be discreet, and we certainly do not need another law telling us what we can or cannot do.
You can't legislate morality or good taste.
Of course, I don't think it would be okay for a baby to starve! However I would hope the mother would use some tact when doing so.
Oh and it is a baby being fed not a toddler!
Absolutely....breastfeeding can be done discreetly, usually without most even knowing that it is being done.
