Salisbury Police Officer Down
Thirty minutes ago an undercover Salisbury Police Officer was assaulted by two individuals. The officer was assisting in a drug raid when the assault happened. The two individuals are in police custody and are being processed as we speak. The officer was transported to the hospital his condition is unknown at this time.

It was only a matter of time before something like this was going to happen. Something needs to be done. If there is all this "Safe Streets" money available, where is it all going? It needs to go to hire officers so there can be more patrols and backup to help these officers that are putting their lives on the line for the citizenry.
I hope this officer is going to be alright, and I hope that the force is giving his family a lot of support at this time.
It's a shame that they don't get the dealers in Fruitland, right around the corner from City Hall. It is just sickening. I hope the officer is going to be okay.

They were doing a huge raid on the house in Fruitland across from the post office last Friday. There were so many police cars up and down Main Street, I thought there was a funeral or something going on at the Church. When I rode by, they had every centimeter of the house surrounded by F.P.D and W.C.S.O. Atleast, Chief Phillips is on top of his game in Fruitland. It seems to be the safest place in Wicomico County right now.
Salisbury is the safest place in Wicomico county, unless you are a citizen and not a criminal.
First, thank you to the men and women of SPD. Despite our crime, I commend them for all the arrests they are making, in case no one has noticed that they are kicking butt and taking names much more often.
Second, as I read this I thought back to the city budget on PAC14. There were Debbie Campbell and Terry Cohen finding money to prevent furloughing our police officers while Louise Smith and Shanie Shields thought far less things were more important than our officers.
As someone with a family member who wore the blue and served his city, I will remember that budget come election time.
I will pray for this officer's speedy recovery, regardless of how the injury came about. It was in the line of duty.
Duty. A word made sacred by some and disgraced by others.
The police are making the arrests over and over again but the courts keep putting the criminals back on the streets over and over again. Could you imagine how frustrating it would be if you went to work every day, did your job as expected, then the CEO of the company destroyed all of your hard work and made you do the same exact thing to the same exact pieces again and again?
The officers catch and charge a man, he get out on bond, might keep his nose clean until court, the judge gives him PBJ and 3-6 months later the officers are picking him up again on the same or similar charge.
Harsher penalities for criminals helps. Personally I don't care about the persons rights when they attempted to rob someone and shot the person. If people knew they would be put to death if they killed someone they might not be so quick to pull a trigger and if they did, they wouldn't have the opportunity to do it again!
Everyone talks of high crime and getting more Officer's on the streets, while the mayor furlough's them and forces Police offiers to work short handed to allow all the time off. After a citizen gets robbed or shot, the city uses state grant money not to put more cops on the street but to cove the guys off on furlough....
It was a Safe Streets officer injured during a foot pursuit. Other members of the Safe Streets team made the apprehension. Let's hope he resisted and they were able to get in a little stick time. ;)
I hope this officer recovers quickly! Perhaps the city council needs to consider adding more funds to hire much-needed police officers and increase the pay of the present officers. Additionally, the council may need to rethink its idea of spending HUGE amounts of money on a fireboat. Studies have proven that an increased police presence brings down crime rates.
10:50 PM an ounce of lead would be a great penalty. Vote Republican and support any legislation for right to carry. It is a proven fact that crime rates drop considerably in states where citizens have a right to carry.
Want to get the job done right! you should go and find retired Sergeant Tilghman and bring him back.
