Bridge Painting Will Require The Closure Of Two Bridges In Laurel

Laurel -- The Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces that the painting of bridges will require the closure of the following roads:

Bridge closed at 9 a.m. on Thursday, October 28 and will reopen by 3 p.m. on Monday, November 1

Bridge over Hitch Pond Branch on Hitch Pond Road in Laurel

The following detour route will be implemented:

Northbound: East on Trap Pond Road, west on Laurel Road and back to Hitch Pond Road
Southbound: East on Laurel Road, west on Trap Pond Road and back to Hitch Pond Road

Bridge closed at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, November 3 and will reopen by 3 p.m. on Wednesday, November 10

Bridge over Broad Creek on Central Avenue in Laurel

Traffic will be detoured as follows:

Northbound: East on Market Street, northbound on Route 13, west on Georgetown Road and back to Central Avenue

Southbound: East on Georgetown Road, southbound on Route 13, west on Market Street and back to Central Avenue

Message boards have been set up notifying motorists of the upcoming closure. The road will be open only to emergency vehicles and residents living within the closure.

The contractor for these improvements is Tarpon Industrial Inc.
