O’Malley Supporters Threaten Workers Into Supporting Campaign

Emails to workers are latest examples of O’Malley supporters bullying workers

ANNAPOLIS Maryland Republican Party Chairman Audrey Scott released the following statement today in response to emails obtained by MDGOP, in which AFSCME leaders threaten union workers if they do not volunteer for Governor O’Malley:

“This revelation is just another example of bullying and workforce intimidation by Governor O’Malley and his supporters.  After furloughing state employees during a recession, O’Malley’s bullying tactics have apparently extended to now threatening government union workers into backing his campaign.  For a campaign that claims to be ‘on your side,’ it seems as if the Governor will put you ‘on your back’ if you do not support his campaign.  With Maryland’s unemployment steadily rising, I think Martin O’Malley and his supporters have bullied Maryland’s workers enough.”

The emails come just months after the O’Malley campaign admitted bullying state employees by sending fundraising solicitations to their state government email accounts. The solicitations were sent to employees who serve at the pleasure of the Governor and could fear for their jobs if they don’t donate to the O’Malley campaign.  It also comes weeks after O’Malley aides bullied state employees into covering up a jobs report that refuted Martin O’Malley’s claim that Maryland’s economy was recovering.

I'm a state employee and an AFSCME member. I'm not an O'Malley supporter and I will be voting for Bob Ehrlich again.
