Why is it that towns take it upon themselves to change when trick or treating occurs when it historically occured on Halloween. Typically, when it got dark you went out and trick or treated until people turned their front lights out. There was no time limit. This drives me nuts and I feel it's about control. All I know is that I only recognize trick or treating on Halloween so don't come to my house until Sunday.
It's the same mentality that requires buses to stop at every house. Instead of having the kids congregate at a central bus stop. Basically it's people wanting things their way and using "the children's saftey" as an excuse. It's a wonder anyone survived to adulthood with all these dangers.
Seriously!!! People just need something to whine about... I have never seen times re-enforced. We are always out past 7 or 8 pm. I still have kids under 8yrs old so personally I dont want them out too much past 9pm or so. Why is it people have to take something simple and fun and throw a fit about it??? Besides they probably would not have to do it this way if more parents were responsible and not let there kids run loose at all hours of the day and night..
8:56 In the 20 years we have lived in this area they have never had trick or treat in Ocean Pines. I was told that it was because there are no street lights there, which makes sense. It's pretty dark on those streets in there.
#1 - You have the "religeous" people who don't want trick or treating done on a holy day.
#2 - In Delmar, once again, they've scheduled Homecoming to fall on the same weekend as Halloween. Homecoming ALWAYS brings in a lot more traffic into town as well as "problems" so there are those who don't want the kids on the streets at that time. Then you have the homecoming dance Saturday night and all those teenagers (who are too old) can't go trick or treating. I think they should just give up on it and the Delmar kids should just go trick or treating somewhere else besides Delmar. It's ludicrous (sp) for there to be trick or treating TWO days prior to Halloween!
I have to agree...When I was growing up and when my kids were little, we always trick or treated on Halloween. Didn't matter what day of the week it fell on. Its so much more confusing now. This town does this, the other town does that. Christmas is on the same day every year, so is valentines day etc. Why dictate different dates for halloween. I am not complaining persay just don't understand the point.
