Texas School Board Debates 'Pro-Islamic' Bias In Textbooks

Members weigh demanding changes in way books portray Muslims, Christians

It appeared that Texas had finished battling over textbooks — with social conservatives winning a clear victory in May — but the Texas State Board of Education is taking up another explosive curriculum question: Are Texan youth being fed a sugar-coated version of Islam while Christianity is unfairly taken to task for its sins?

At a three-day meeting that started Wednesday, the board is scheduled to consider a resolution that would require it to reject textbooks that it determines are tainted with teaching “pro-Islamic, anti-Christian half-truths and selective disinformation,” a bias that it argues is reflected in current schoolbooks.

“I think our documentation clearly shows that the bias is there,” said Randy Rives of Odessa, who drafted the resolution. “And we feel that it was not done on accident.”

And these are the same people who say Christianity is to strict...LOL

These people only want the opposite: sugar coated Christianity/western civ vs. the heathen primitive muslim east. I wish someone would stand up for objectivity.

Explain sugar coated Christianity?
Or maybe you can point to a Muslim charity group who is feeding the hungry around the world!

"sugar coated Christianity", or sugar coated any religion for that matter, is the idea that any religion has never had people who choose to use faith as a justification for horrible acts against their fellow man. Name one religion that hasn't had leaders or entire groups perpetrate crimes against humanity and attempt to justify their acts through religion. Mind you, it's not the religion thats the problem, its the people.

And bozo, take a second and google the muslim charities yourself. Your belief that somehow there aren't any muslim charities around the world is sparked from your ingorance of the facts and intellectual laziness (it's easier to believe something that reinforces your idealogy than it is to actually face the truth).

Christianity is being systematically destroyed by the same people who have now hijacked Islam.

There are only 3 real religions in the world.

You will figure it out.

They print their own money and infiltrate the seminaries to control the agenda of Christian denominations. They have all the Christians "praying for the troops" which is ridiculous.

The only legitimate prayer for the troops is that they will come to their senses and lay down their weapons and walk away.

The smart rich powerful ones are on the sidelines watching and waving as the Christians and Muslims slowly (quickly?) kill each other off.

That is why I teach my children at home what islam is really about. I talk to them about how islam started and what they believe. Check out any books from Ayaan Hirsi Ali to get a glimpse into the life of a muslim woman.

12:10 Your one of those liberal elite wanna be's that think they are the higher power. You can go back in history and find little snippets that might fit your agenda but the fact you don't point to these examples as throw out blanket statements shows what a lazy bozo you are! And these Muslim charities, Are they feeding all of the hungry or just the ones that believe the same book that they do?
