Wicomico County Executive Richard M. Pollitt, Jr., turned over the keys to the Goldman Annex to National Guard Major Charles M. Taylor today. The National Guard and the County have successfully come to terms on a lease to the Guard for the property and the buildings. Salisbury Senior Advisors Bradley Gillis and John McClellan of Sperry Van Ness originated and negotiated the agreement free-of-charge as a service to the citizens of the County.
The complex had been most recently used as a minimum-security annex for the Wicomico County Detention Center. It has been vacant since June, 2009. The National Guard will be paying $117,000 a year for the use of the facility. The County budgeted $75,000 to maintain the complex in good condition during Fiscal Year 2011.
According to a previously published report, the Maryland Army National Guard intends to move its 115th Military Police Battalion to the Annex property while the Blair L. Crockett Armory in Salisbury undergoes a major renovation. In the same report, Guard officials indicated that the renovations may take as much as two years.

Don't believe it Joe. This will soon become a FEMA camp. Remember you heard it first here. They are popping up all over the country. Aberdeen proving grounds is another in Maryland. Get your stuff together people. Mexican Federales patrolling Staten Island. What's next?
Pollitt appears to doing well with his diet and bodybuilding.
As a United States Army Officer, I find it extremely offensive that 7:04 would make any kind of comparison involving our Military. The men and woman of the Guard give their greatest asset, time, in exchange for little else. Being on Active Duty gives me a great appreciation for the dedication National Guard Soldiers have in balancing military obligations with their civilian jobs and lives. Please do not soil what my brothers and sisters do with your uneducated remarks.
