The next industry that could be to follow is the grain subsidies that the US farmer receives for growing soybeans, corn, etc.
For years the South American countries, particularly Brazil, have been up in arms about unfair US trade practices - (US farmer subsidies)- for keeping foreign grown grain prices extremely low and thus from being imported into the US. I have also predicted an all out international trade war as a result of the current US policy which creates artificial prices that props-up US pricing.

Here's a crazy idea, get rid of farm subsidies. The top 10% of recipients recieved 74% of all subsidies.

I agree with you - get rid of the frm subsidies.
Then - the public will actually be able to tell the real value of the farm land because it would reveal 'real market value' as opposed to artificial valuation.
You know what the Bible says about this:

It's time our government grew a set and started levying tariffs on imports. That's the means the Constitution incorporated for the generation of funds to support the federal government. But that would mean we can't buy those $350 flat screens, those $12,000 Kias, or any number of food products from questionable foreign producers who have little to no oversight in regards to quality. That's right, it would cost more to buy things, but just maybe your tax burden would decrease to offset that somewhat (if you had conscientious legislators). I think it's about time we acknowledged the folly of subsidies to artificially manipulate markets and let items seek their proper value.
