DIAMONDS & DENIM EVENT WILL BENEFIT THE MARYLAND AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION FOUNDATION, INC.

– The Maryland Agricultural Education Foundation, Inc. (MAEF) has announced a fundraising event on October 14, 2010 from 6-9pm at The Oaks in Royal Oak Maryland. The theme will be “Diamonds & Denim” and funds raised at the event will go toward education programs on the Eastern Shore.

The Maryland Agricultural Education Foundation is a non-profit non-governmental organization whose mission is to promote the understanding and appreciation of the importance of agriculture in our daily lives. MAEF believes that incorporating agriculture into teaching and learning creates a foundation for students, as future citizens, to make educated decisions regarding food choices and nutrition, community issues, land use planning and natural resource conservation.

MAEF executes its mission through statewide education initiatives including, mobile science classrooms, the Maryland Agriculture Showcase, Ag in the Classroom, teacher training, curriculum development, Maryland FFA professional consulting and advocacy. MAEF serves public, private, formal and non-formal education from kindergarten through post secondary schools.

The fundraiser is being hosted by Delegate Jeannie Haddaway-Riccio, Mr. and Mrs. Robert N. Hockaday, Jr., Angel Adams, KC Bridges, Karena Dixon, Melissa Gray, Alison Howard, C. John Sullivan, III and Connie Wilson. The evening event will begin with hors d’oeuvres and cocktails on the lawn of The Oaks followed by dinner, an auction and dancing.

Auction items will include a fishing trip for six from Screaming Eagle Charters, decoys donated by C. John Sullivan and Family and a limited edition necklace from Shearer the Jeweler.
